I bought the BG-E2N for my Canon 30D and have been using it for about a month now. It has performed flawlessly both indoors and out, and the only reason I have not given it a 5-star rating is because of its fit and finish, which by no means detract from its functionality. I tend to get stuck on details and compared to the 5D and its battery grip, to me this grip just doesn't appear to integrate as seamlessly with the 30D. As well, the color is ever so slightly off from the rest of the body. You'd think black is black but the grip seems to be a little more grey. Despite these small shortcomings, I highly recommend it as it makes the camera more comfortable to grip in landscape or portrait format and I truly enjoy having the necessary controls accessible in either position. The increased battery power, with a second battery is also a nice bonus - I have yet to recharge the batteries.Digital camera Review: Canon BG-E2N Battery Grip

I decided to buy the grip after taking a bunch of pictures in the vertical position. so far the grip is working fine I really like the flexibility with it...you can run 2 batteries or 1 battery and even 6 AA batteries in a pinch
the weight on the camera gets up there when you have the 2 batteries in there...so far running only one battery and it is working fine...the other thing I like is when I am using a monopod with my 70-200mm lens I can rotate the lens and I am ready to go, no bent wrist and reaching over...the only thing I didn't like was the fit and the texture...it didn't fit perfect to my Canon 50D there was a small step on the side and the texture was a little different from what was on the body but it has nothing to do with the performance...overall I am very happy with it and have not removed it from the body since I got it...ps I really like there is a place to store the battery door from the camera right on the grip...no way of losing or misplacing it...

Purchased this for my C50D. It has attaches tightly and with two fully charged batteries lasted an entire weekend and approximately 1800 pictures. I have purchased 2 of these in the past 3 months. One for myself and one as a gift. The price beats the in-store price of almost $300 and the battery grip is easy to use. I used my battery grip with 2 batteries a whole week on a cruise (vacation) and took hundreds (almost thousands) of pictures. I never had to charge the batteries.
Great product - and a great gift!
