I bought this because with my last video camera I had a larger battery and it was a good investment. This battery lasts longer than the battery my HV20 comes with. What I like most is that it doesn't stick out past the back of the camera.Digital camera Review: Long lasting

Decided to get this battery to utilize the original battery as a spare. However, with this battery, we never needed a spare. On a recent trip to Hawaii, this is the only one we used. Through long days at Diamond Head, Waikiki, the Dole Pineapple Plantation, Polynesian Cultural Center, and a day trip to the Big Island, this battery never ran low. Recharging at day's end was the only thing needed.

I bought this when I bought my Canon HG10 and it has noticeable longer life than the battery that came with the camera. I use this one has a primary and the one that came with it as a backup. Works great and lasts long.Digital camera Review: Longer battery life

I've had some trouble with off brands. Buying twice the battery, but not getting any more batter life. You really seem to need to stick with the Canon brand on these. The price is steeper, but I think it's necessary if you need to film anything "important" for any length of time.
