Digital camera reviews of Canon BP-819 Lithium Ion Battery Pack for HF10, HF100 HF S & HF M Camcorders (Retail Packaging)Digital camera Review: Expensive-but worth every penny!! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this battery to be able to record longer lenghts of video without changing out the battery. I have no complaints. It lasts a good 4-4.5 hours without fail. It allows me to recoed a whole soccer game and still have plenty of recording time left. Worth the money just for the convenience!!!
Digital camera Review: Extra Power Summary: 5 Stars
Well worth while but expencive, it will cover you for a whold day for a day out on holiday, where the standard supplied battery did not last.
Digital camera Review: Good Performance Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this product for a Canon Vixia HF10. It works good, but it does stick out from the back a little bit. It also comes with a cover for the contacts that you can put on the battery that came with the camera while using this one. I would have given it 5 stars if it didn't stick out as far, but it does work good and also works with the battery life display feature built into the camera (some generic batteries won't).
Digital camera Review: Good battery Summary: 5 Stars
This battery did good job as what is on its specification.
The battery came with camcorder will be my backup.
This is the battery that every Canon HF11 user must have.
Digital camera Review: Good product Summary: 4 Stars
Does what it's supposed to do - gives you about 3 hrs at maximum quality (on a Vixia M31) rather than the 1 hr with the standard included battery. Conveniently, the 3 hrs maps exactly to the 3 hrs of footage time you can store on the stock 32 gig internal memory.
If you add the Canon mini-shoe video light accessory (which is a good product, by the way), that'll cut the total shooting time down to about 1.5 hrs with this battery - and will also make the stock battery virtually unusable with less than 30 minutes of shooting time.
Being a Canon product, this battery will be accurately reflected in the battery charge level indicator on the LCD screen, which is not the case with some of the 3rd party products - but you pay for it; the cost difference is huge.
UPDATED 12/6/10: My initial review mentioned that my first 819 failed and had to be replaced. That was an error, but for an interesting reason. The battery had not failed. What happened was I had purchased a 3rd party battery charger. For unknown reasons, the charge from that charger worked - but was not reflected in the battery level indicator in my M31 when I put the battery back in. The level indicator would show the red warning to charge immediately, while happily recording video for the next 3 hours. Apparently, the 819 can charge up from a non-Canon charger but may not correctly reset its charge level status for the Canon camcorder to read.
