Digital camera reviews of Canon BP511A 1390mAh Lithium Ion Battery Pack for Select Digital Cameras and Camcorders (Retail Package)Digital camera Review: Caveat Emptor Summary: 1 Stars
I chose Caveat Emptor, Latin for 'let the buyer beware', as the title of this review because it best describes how to approach a deal with this vendor for a Canon BP511A Lithium Ion battery. At the same time I purchased this battery from Vortex Cable (VC) I purchased one from Amazon.com. They both arrived within a couple of days of each other which allowed me the opportunity to compare them. Upon performing a visual inspection, side-by-side, I noticed subtle differences between the two, previously pointed out by various reviewers, which leads me to believe the VC version is a knock-off. I wouldn't have minded so much if the battery was advertised as a Canon and an obvious non-Canon replacement was sent, because you could easily discern that fact and ask for a replacement or your money back. In this case though someone went to great lengths to make this battery appear as a Canon...right down to the packaging. My recommendation is to avoid purchasing your battery here and pay a little more to ensure you are in fact receiving a true Canon replacement battery.
Digital camera Review: Charging not so good Summary: 1 Stars
Although the battery looks charged, it often runs out quickly. So either the charging indicator is getting a false reading from the battery or the battery drains quickly.
Digital camera Review: Couple it with grip Summary: 5 Stars
Get this extra battery and a grip, and you can take pictures for what feels like forever! Great combo
Digital camera Review: DON'T BUY A KNOCK-OFF Summary: 5 Stars
Okay, a lot can be said for saving money, however there can be problems with no-name or non-branded products. No matter what your "style" of photography, you will have a battery empty its charge at a critical moment. Having a back-up is essential. Having a quality back-up battery that will get you through is imperative. Knock-off brands do not hold the same charge as the branded battery meant for your camera; although their manufacture may claim it does.
Get in the zone and get the shot!
Digital camera Review: Dead after 7 months Summary: 1 Stars
No even the only battery, I have the grip and I buy one BP511 from canon and two from Ultralast. The one which came in the camera its dead after 7 months not even with a hard use. The other one, after 12months dead (I use that with my previous 30D)
The ultralast batteries still working good. Just 15$ I pay last year for those, 1600mAh.
