Digital camera reviews of Canon CanoScan 8800F Color Image Scanner (2168B002)Digital camera Review: A TOP NOTCH SCANNER Summary: 5 Stars
I wish I had found this scanner years ago. It does a magnificant job of scanning photographs as well as color transparencies. It is fairly fast and downloads what you scan to a sensible site. In all I certainly would recommend this baby to anyone who is looking for a quality scanner at a very reasonable price when compared to what else is available.

Digital camera Review: A Treasure Summary: 5 Stars
I've waited a long time for a scanner to deliver great images for a modest price. This 8800 does both.
So far I've scanned 9,000 slides (not a typo) and thousands of pictures and negatives. All family and friends who've received copies have been delighted.
If the holders were any more intricate I would not have gotten done. As it is, they are as simple as they need to be.
It worked well with my 32bit Vista HP machine. I actually loaded driver, plugged it in and started scanning. Once I got rolling, I sat back with the literature and learned how to get the most out of the scans.
My other Canon imaging products have always performed well, but the 8800 is on a higher level. If you're short of patience an/or tech-savviness like me there is no need to worry. You won't need much of either.
Digital camera Review: A good buy Summary: 5 Stars
My husband and I bought the CanoScan 8800F scanner for our daughter who is home-schooling three children and needs the scanner to make multiple copies of worksheets and pictures. She uses it on a daily basis. She loves it, it has worked exactly as she had hoped from the moment she set it up. She particularly likes the OCR software that comes with it, says it was a no-brainer to figure it out.
Digital camera Review: A photogrphers scanner Summary: 5 Stars
I bought a cheaper one and regret is what I got. This one was only slightly more expensive but the results were miles apart. Images were good enough to give a quality photo editing program enough to really work with.
Digital camera Review: A very nice scanner Summary: 4 Stars
This was a replacement scanner for an older HP Scanjet. It is a huge improvement! I really like the instant-on feature of the scanning light (it doesn't have to warm up like the HP). The Canon comes with the templates for scanning slides and film, which is a benefit for me. Setup was easy and the twain driver seems to be working with Windows XP just fine. The only criticism I have is the sheer number of software applications that you need to install - the instruction aren't that clear about what the apps are and which ones are required vs. which ones are not. It's best to install everything and then see what you actually use. You can uninstall what you don't want, later. I do miss having a document feeder, but the scans are high quality and relatively quickly done. This scanner prompted me to finally pull out all the 20 and 30 year old slides and start scanning them to digital format.
