Digital camera reviews of Canon CanoScan 8800F Color Image Scanner (2168B002)Digital camera Review: ALMOST perfect! Summary: 4 Stars
The CanoScan 8800F is a great, easy to use scanner with outstanding results.
The only disappointment I have is that the largest negative carrier included in the box is still too small to accept my larger format 1940's B&W negatives and you cannot scan a negative without using a carrier.
Canon, if you're listening, please make a larger carrier for vintage negatives!!!
Digital camera Review: Absolutely Amazing Summary: 5 Stars
This scanner is amazing. I bought it to scan negatives: it works great. There is a small learning curve to figure out how to clean up the photos. but I am very impressed with the quality. It has a large footprint, but I won't be using it that often once my photos have been digitized. The software it came with was also incredible.. all in all well worth the price.
Digital camera Review: Absolutley fabulous for converting slides and negatives! Summary: 5 Stars
I had been using an HP scanner for years and found that when I purchased a new desktop with Windows 7 that it was incompatible with my new system. I inherited a big box of 35mm slides recently and wanted to make sure that I got a scanner that would not only do a great job scanning documents and photos but also transparencies, slides and negatives. Boy am I impressed! I was able to provide my Uncle and Aunt with digital images of their 1965 wedding that they had never seen before as my father had originally developed them as slides instead of paper photographs. For me, that alone was worth the cost of admission!
The Canon 8800F has a detachable shield in the lid that houses a secondary lighting unit for scanning transparent materials (I uploaded a picture showing this second light source). Canon also includes 3 different "film guide mounts" to ensure accurate scanning for these less conventional formats. While it can take up to 2 minutes to fully scan 4 slides, the resolution of the resulting images is extremely good. I already owned Photo Elements 8, but the version 5 software that comes with this unit should fill the needs of most users.
Set-up was easy, the software is easy to learn and the function keys on the front of the unit provide a fast option to select from many different scanning options to include several PDF functions, copies, and even scan straight to email.
Windows 7 compatible.
Digital camera Review: After looking at everything that's available Summary: 5 Stars
I needed to convert black and white negatives to digital, and I wanted a scanner that would provide quality images. After looking at everything that was available and OSX compatible, the CanoScan 8800F seemed to consistently receive a thumbs up. I am more than satisfied with the performance as well as the ease of use. There are those people that can nit pick and are never happy with the quality of anything, but I found the image quality from this scanner to be very good. I have to join the consensus on this one, for the money you can't do much better.
Digital camera Review: Amazing Summary: 5 Stars
Amazed to find a product that performs up to it's advertised claim. In some ways this exceeded my expectations for a scanner. Very happy with the job it did on slides and negatives.
