Loaded the software onto my Vista based desktop. Install was slow - but no problems. Started up the scanner and used the software it came with. Wicked fast! What's more - I can put multiple photos on the scanner and the program will automatically crop to each individual photo. My huge photo scanning project now seems rather manageable. Worth every penny! Note - I am only using this for photos. Have a Nikon scanner for my negatives and slides - so am not able to comment on the quality of this feature.Digital camera Review: Another satisfied customer

After much research, my father & I selected the 8800f to complete out slide conversion project. Neither of us is all that computer savvy but we started scanning fairly quickly after installing all the software. I got into a groove and was able to scan 4 slides at a time in about 5-6 minutes (not the 20 minutes quoted in other reviews). I'm impressed with the quality and ease of use. Now it doesn't seem like it will be so daunting to scan over 1,000 slides.Digital camera Review: Archiver

I bought this scanner to copy old family photos, negatives, and slides onto my PC. You get 3 image guides that did not accomodate irregular size negatives. I was able to get around this by sliding them into clear sheet protectors, and aligned them with the guide rails. The process is slow, but overall I think it's worth it. After having read various reviews on this and other slide/negative scanners, I am glad we decided to get this Canon, it is amazing, speedwise as well as quality, not to mention satisfactory price!
