Digital camera Review: Awesome scanner for negatives
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this scanner for Christmas because I have thousands of old family pictures that I needed to organize. I am more than satisfied with the 8800F's ease of use and pretty intuitive feel. It took a few stabs to learn to put in the negatives with the negatives curled up towards you so the picture wouldn't be a mirror image ( easily fixed later with the provided software). Then it was simple and very fast to mount the negatives into the provided neg holder. I pretty much use the auto feature on all the negatives and only scan at very high resolution when I come across a real special picture that I might want to enlarge. Over all, very happy with this purchase. I would estimate it takes about 25 minutes to scan about 24 negatives.

Digital camera Review: Awesome scanner!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am in the process of scanning thousands of family photos, some of which date back to the early 1900s. I am not a techie and I had this scanner up and running in less than 30 minutes. I scan everything at 600 dpi into jpeg files. This scanner is doing an amazing job. It's fast and produces great images. The best feature is the ability to scan multiple photos at once and save them as separate files into a designated folder. I was considering the Epson Perfection V500, but it does not have this feature. I have not used the editing software that comes with the scanner because I already have Photoshop Elements 7. I have also scanned some documents into PDF files and it worked flawlessly. With the ability to scan negatives into separate files using the tray, you can accomplish a lot in a short period of time.

This scanner definitely exceeded my expectations. I am using it to archive a lot of family photos since we can't seem to find a lot of our old negatives. It can easily scan a photograph at a resolution that will allow you to make much larger prints than the original picture.

I bought this scanner at Fry's Electronics. I have never been completely confident with any purchases I make at that store, and I took this scanner home and found some dust inside the scanner so I exchanged it for a different one. The second one I got home also had a few dust particles on the underside of the scanning bed, so I figure Canon isn't assembling these in clean rooms, although they should be. Also the power button on this one is not held in place very well and sinks slightly in when you push it. These don't really affect the quality of images it produces, just minor things that you notice.

Digital camera Review: BEST ALL PURPOSE SCANNER
Summary: 5 Stars

AFTER A LOT OF RESEARCH FOR FUNCTION AND BEST PRICE, THE 8800F WAS THE WINNER. IT WILL COPY JUST ABOUT ANYTHING WITH GREAT RESOLUTION, SPEED, AND VERY EASY TO USE SOFTWARE. I'M A MAC USER AND I EXPECT USER FRIENDLY SOFTWARE; THIS MACHINE DELIVERS!

Digital camera Review: BETTER THAN EXPECTED

Transfering data is not as hard as I thought it was going to be. The quaility is superior and un-matched. Very happy with this purchase. Thank you Amazon.
