Digital camera reviews of Canon CanoScan 8800F Color Image Scanner (2168B002)Digital camera Review: Best deal at the price! Summary: 5 Stars
Unfortunately you can drop huge bucks on a scanner. The cheap ones are basically toys. I needed one that would do negatives of all sizes, slides, and various sizes of prints. I asked a number of professionals and this was the one they recommended. Amazon had the best deal by far and shipping was fast! I couldn't be happier! I am in the process of saving thousands of pictures/negatives and slides that I saved from my Grandpa, some over 60 years old. I'm not a photographic genius either and this is relatively easy to use. My Grandpa was a huge photographer. He spend hours in the darkroom and took thousands of pictures trying to get things just right. He even did photo-shopping. I think he would have loved digital and this product!
Digital camera Review: Best scanner Summary: 5 Stars
I've owned several scanners over the years and this is by far the very best. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
Digital camera Review: Best scanner - especially for the price! Summary: 5 Stars
I have only used this to scan prints, documents, and magazine articles so I can't comment on film or slide scanning. Compared to other scanners I've used from HP and Microtek, and scanning I've done on Multifunction devices, the Canon CanoScan 8800F is by far the fastest scanner I've used! The software is also very simple and easy to use and set up (at least on my Mac), and it doesn't install a bunch of extraneous annoying software that pops up every time you restart you computer (like Microtek). If you want a reliable, easy to use scanner that is very fast with almost no warm-up time due to its LED technology, this is the one! And you know since it's a Canon that it will produce fantastic quality images. I am a huge fan of Canon's products and they have delivered another great one here!
Digital camera Review: Best scanner I have found for the price Summary: 5 Stars
I put this scanner, an HP scanner, and an Epson scanner in my cart as I researched all three. I had decided it would be either the Canon or Epson, when suddenly this Canon dropped to $101 on Amazon (and free shipping). I took the $75 drop in price as an good omen, so I ordered it at that low price, and the next day it was back up to $176!
It is well made, and makes wonderfull scans of my color prints. I did notice some white dust and lint showing on my scans, and a close look at the glass with a flashlight showed dust on the glass. I cleaned it with some distilled water on a lint-free cloth, and it works great. The "glass" is actually optical grade plastic and should NOT be cleaned with glass cleaner as the ammonia may damage it. I searched "cleaning scanner glass" for the cleaning instructions as Canon does not mention cleaning in the manual.
I really got this scanner for scanning 120 film negatives as I have just returned to this style of photography, though I haven't been able to get any film developed yet to try it. In the end, I found that of the scanners I had in my cart, only this one includes film holders for 120 film, as well as 35mm slides and 35mm negatives. Loading the driver and using the scanner are a breeze on my XP computer, and it includes discs of Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 (Mac) and 5.0 (XP/Vista) as nice extras.
Digital camera Review: Best scanner I've ever used Summary: 5 Stars
Although I haven't yet used all the featutres available on this scanner, it already has performed better, and done more, than my previous Epson scanner (which I thought did a credible job!). I especially like its perfomance on my slides (which I have thousands to do).
