If what you want is a scanner for home use without expecting bells and whistles, this is your solution. It is dependable, produces good colors, and has helped me throw out a bunch of written stuff that was cluttering my filing space. I have also had time to scan my wedding pictures that were taken when digital photography did not exist. I bought at a retail store. With a salesman I checked the Canon website. The site and this add said Windows 98 compatible. My UMax 1200 scsi died and the Win 98 system it is on will have to updated eventually, but I thought this would fit the bill til then. After many emails back and forth to the company, turns out it is compatible starting w/ Windows 98SE, not Windows 98. The company was very responsive. I've loaded on my laptop w/ Win Me in the meantime. If you have a lot of items to scan, you may want to look elsewhere as this is pretty slow. The quality is adequate, color resolution greater than 300 dpi slows it down. If just an occassional scanner its ok. You already have a printer, you have the fax machine, you just need a scanner. Of course there are these new all in one packages you can buy these days but they are costly and bulky.
Here you have a simple flat bed scanner that is affordable, and has the features to copy, scan, email, even edit what you scan as well. It's powered through the USB cable so no need to worry about plugs. The scans come out great and so do the copies. The speed couldn't be any faster which is of course a plus. The scanner fits nicely just about anywhere, or can be easily stored if not used frequently.
Total quality, and a great buy especially for the price as well. Worth picking up.
