Digital camera reviews of Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 Color Image Scanner (0307B001)Digital camera Review: CanoScan is Perfect Summary: 5 Stars
I needed a small footprint and slim scanner to use with my (15-1/2" width) laptop. This scanner was inexpensive (since I already had a scanner attached to my PC, I didn't want to spend a lot on an additional, but more convenient scanner) and everyone said the only drawback of the canoscan was a slower scan. Since I wasn't in that great a hurry for my scans, I didn't hesistate to purchase a scanner with being slow as its only drawback. The CanoScan set up easily with my Vista operating system and slipped into my small laptop desk shelf when not in use. It can scan to the usual graphic formats, but can also scan to pdf (also with the ability to create multi-page pdfs), perform ocr, and something that I never had on my previous scanners which is to scan several pictures at a single pass but create individual pages for each image, rather than just one. Also an advantage is not having an additional power cord to deal with; this scanner just uses one of your USB ports! The scans come out clear (up to 300 dpi), text is easily read and image colors match or you can adjust them with the easy-to-use interface. I didn't notice that it's any slower than my Epson scanjet scanner (which has moved to second place, now that I have this one). Although I haven't had to travel, this scanner seems thin enough to fit into your laptop bag. Now if someone would just develope a printer that would print an 8 x 10 page using a slim printer - I could fit everything I need in almost no space at all.
Digital camera Review: Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 -- is a good buy Summary: 4 Stars
Pros: Compact footprint on desktop, USB powered, inexpensive, works well, good value
Cons: Somewhat noisy on startup, not as high res as some very high-end units.
My old Visioneer 4400 USB died, so I was forced to get a new scanner. I did not want to get an all-in-one unit as I already had a decent printer and no phone line for a fax. I see no need for the average small business owner or home user needing an expensive high end unit when this scanner does a lot for the dollar. The CanoScan LiDE 25 is a good value for your dollar. The color accuracy seems to be good, and the scanner integrated well with my existing Paperport software I was using. I would recommend this scanner for anyone needing a good value scanner for light/medium use without a document feeder.
Digital camera Review: Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 Color Image Scanner Summary: 4 Stars
Absolute simplicity to hook-up, install, and use this scanner. Scan quality has met, even exceeded, my expectations. The only confusion is the CanoScan Toolbox software, which is poorly documented. However, the Scan 1 and PDF features are probably all you'll ever use.
If and when this scanner finally tires out, it will be replaced by another Canon.

I am very happy with this scanner. Very easy to install and use. A little disappointed with the speed of the scans, but does work fine with Windows VISTA, which was my big concern.
Digital camera Review: Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 Scanner Summary: 4 Stars
The scanner is fine-takes a little getting used to, as I had a different model that did a little more before. But it bit the dust and I could not afford to replace it. The greatest part was getting this scanner through Amazon. Husband lost his higher paying job last year, so things are tight with the new budget and Amazon has been a big help. I use my Amazon card for nearly all necessary monthly items, gas, professional fees and dues, etc and the rewards I get help me purchase items not in the budget. I got an Amazon gift card from the National Association of Realtors for taking part in a survey and, by watching the prices, got the scanner on clearance for only a few dollars out of pocket. That makes it a great scanner.
So, while I may only be giving the scanner 4 stars, I give Amazon rewards program 5 1/2 stars.
