Digital camera Review: 100mm 2.8L IS Macro

This lens is absolutely incredible. As a macro lens, you couldn't be happier, but it is also a viable all purpose lens. Portraits, nature shooting, you name it, it does it.
The main question is, is it worth the extra money for the image stabilization? That really is the benefit of the "L" series versus the non-stabilized. It is a difficult question to answer indeed. But if the extra money is available, go with it. I've shot sharp images at shutter speeds I never thought possible, and probably wouldn't be possible without Canon's hybrid stabilization that compensates for angular and planar camera shake.
