After shooting with a few of my friend's prime lenses, I was really interested in getting a fast, sharp prime for my 20D. I didn't want to put a lot of money into it, however, because I found them of limited use (I nearly always want to zoom *a little*). Everyone seemed to say the 1.8 was a nice lens and cheap enough to be a "throw away". Well it is cheap enough, but I'd never, ever throw this lens away. If something happened to it, I'd replace it immediately. It shoots fast, AF is good, and to say it is tack sharp (even wide open) isn't saying it firmly enough. Highly recommended
