Digital camera Review: Awesome Camera Summary: 5 Stars
Upgraded to the 40d from a Rebel XT and couldn't be happier. The focusing is fast and accurate, the viewfinder is big and bright, and it ISO performance is excellent. The 3" LCD is a nice touch and the new menu system works phenomenal. The new shutter mechanism is very quite and fast, 6.5 fps is great when shooting sports. The interchangeable focusing screens are awesome, highly recommend the EF-D. The live view works great for macro and you can tether it to your computer, its pretty amazing.
The 40D is an excellent camera and with the prices down now that the 50D is out, its an exceptional value.
Digital camera Review: Awesome camera! Great Upgrade from the XT/350D Summary: 5 Stars
This was a huge upgrade from the 350D I got a little more than a year ago as a starter body. I can't get over all the little things that make this upgrade unbelievable. There's a huge difference in the grip, which was always too small for me on the XX0D line. Controls are easy to navigate because of the extra "click-wheel". Auto-focus is incredible... I'm finally getting those USM motors to work in near-dark conditions. I'm able to get shots off that I simply couldn't have imagined, and the focus is spot-on with minimal noise in the resulting image. Couldn't be happier!
Digital camera Review: Awesome camera, all you would ever need Summary: 5 Stars
Hey,
The 40D is probably one of the best semi-pro DSLRs out currently (Aug 2009)... well as far as Canon goes. It is not over-loaded with megapixels, like the newer version. I actually bought it, when price had dropped to about $800. When the 50D came out, a lot of people complained that the newer 50D was very noisy (I don't know if that's true). But, because of the negative reviews on the 50D, the 40D price jumped back up, to about $1100. I'm glad I got it, while the price was good. Honestly, think that 10 megapixels... maybe 12, is about the max; mostly because after that, the image size starts taking up a lot of space, with very little gain. With this 40D, (10mp) I can get a decent crop and still enlarge to 16x20 without problems.
Digital camera Review: Awesome! Summary: 5 Stars
This is an excellent camera body especially when using L series lenses. I paired this with Cannon's 24-70mm L glass and the images are amazing. The detail and image quality is outstanding on all counts. The raw files produced with this camera are perfect for Lightroom and CS3 photo enhancing. Oh yes, I was worried that the LCD Live View wasn't bright enough after reading some of the reviews but after using it under various lighting conditions it's fine. No worries. For price and quality, you can't beat this camera.
