Digital camera Review: A Must Have For Quality Pictures

It is the Canon OEM lens hood for their EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens. It fits perfectly and has three main advantages:
1. Cuts down lens flair
2. Improves contrast and image quality - two for one
3. Offers some protection to the front of the lens.
As has been pointed out in other reviews, this is an expensive piece of plastic and given the cost of Canon glass should be included with the lens purchase. But that is not the case. There are other options available. From some of the reviews I have seen of the knock-offs they do not always fit and/or work as well. So for me, given my Canon investment, I just bite the bullet and add the final piece I feel I get better results with. After all, I could buy cheaper glass.
This hood can be reversed on the lens for storage on the lens, but it will require a larger lens case for storage on the lens, if you use that option. And finally, it is a little tight getting the lens cap on/off with the hood in place, but it is doable.

I've used lens hoods on all of my lens since I first started doing pro photography almost 30 years ago. I feel the hoods protect the front of the lens. I also always have a UV filter on my lens, which would also protect the glass, but I feel the hood would go a little farther in protecting the lens from bumps and falls. This petal shaped hood for the Canon 28-135 lens will protect the glass and help keep stray light off my subject.I've alway used Canon hoods on my Canon lens. No sign of dark outline in my pictures!Summary: 5 Stars After receiving this product, I was quite amazed at how great of an item it actually is. yeah, its roughly 20 bucks but worth every penny. I just got it today and put it on my 28-135mm IS lens and it fits perfectly! The fuzz on the inside i'm guessing is supposed to catch dust particles etc.
All in all, great product! Canon is the way to go!
