Digital camera reviews of Canon HV20 3MP High Definition MiniDV Camcorder with 10x Optical Image Stabilized ZoomDigital camera Review: Great Camcorder.... works with imovie 06 HD (ibook G4) Summary: 5 Stars
I have a ibook G4 1.33 Pwr PC with 1.5 GB ram. I bought this camera two days ago. The HV20 works flawlessly with my computer however when I import HD quality video to imovie 06 it lags a little bit. However will be able to burn on idvd 06 perfect.
The HV20 video quality is just what I am looking for, for my Disneywolrd vacation!!! The quality in a low light enviroment is decent. Zooming is great even though it is 10x. The sound is ok, you can hear the motor when it is VERY quiet but NOT a problem for me. The only problem with the camera is it doesn't come with a firewire cable but you can buy that seperately for 10-20 bucks.
So overall, i rate this camera five stars becuase it is great in video quality, compatible with Apple products and just right for a couple going on vacation or just having fun! I recommend this camcorder to anyone! I will write more when i go on my vacation and see if it is still a five star camcorder!!! Check in after May 2!!!! Thanks!

This is a really good camcorder. I had it for a few month now and love every bit of it. The picture quality is flawless on my hd tv.
Digital camera Review: Great Camera Summary: 5 Stars
This camera is really good. If you get one though you should also get a microphone, or else you will get a light mechanical sound while filming but other than that its great.
Digital camera Review: Great Camera, Awesome Picture Quality Summary: 5 Stars
This camera is awesome. The picture quality is great, 24p Cinema Mode is really cool, and I like that it has a mic input and firewire link. I shoot videos professionally, and this camera really brings my movies to life. This camera is definitely worth the price.
I read some reviews about people saying it felt cheap, but I don't know what they're talking about. This camera feels great and really fits to your hand. I do most of my filming on a tripod anyway.
The only drawback that I noticed was that when you get into low light situations, the picture gets kind of grainy. For me, this wasn't really a problem because I have studio lights on the sets I use. But for home users, that might be a small issue.
Overall, this camera is incredible.
Digital camera Review: Great Choice Summary: 4 Stars
I know that these are no longer on the open market, so my review is simply to explain why I think these are an excellent value on the used market.
Bottom line is this - while they keep adding features and improving paper specs, I haven't seen any need to upgrade from my HV20. The feature set is excellent and picture quality is as good as any I've seen on a pro-sumer HD camera. Further more, while I understand that hard drive recording can be useful, I actually prefer tape, as I can grab inexpensive 3 packs (right here on amazon) and never have to worry about running out. I like to keep my archives available as well (as opposed to re-recording over everything and depending on my computer versions) and don't want to have to worry about dumping to another drive before taking new footage.
Frankly, I know that everyone wants the latest and greatest - which this was, not so long ago. My opinion is that if you can grab a reasonably priced HV20 on the used market, you won't be unhappy.
