When I bought my latest Canon digital camera about two years ago, I bought a second battery like this plus the recharger. The price is low enough that it has made purchasing the 2nd battery well worth it. I keep one in the camera, and the 2nd (charged) one in the camera case. I always have a battery ready to go when one runs out of juice. Battery life is much better than any regular or rechargeable AA camera batteries I've used in the past. I read the reviews on cheaper off brands and decided to go with the canon battery for reliabilty. It performed as well as the one that came with my sd1000 camera and have had no problems.
