Digital camera reviews of Canon PIXMA MP560 Wireless Inkjet All-In-One Photo Printer (3747B002)

Digital camera Review: 59 high quality photos and counting without ink change
Summary: 5 Stars

For the past month or so I have been shopping for a printer. I rely heavily on reviews and this one seemed to have the best in my price range. I was a little hesitant to buy because I am not computer savvy and was a bit worried about the difficulty of wireless setup. Most of the reviews I read were from people who are Mac users. I have Windows XP and the setup could not have been easier! I have my router in one room and the printer on a table the next room over (with a wall between) and there is a good strong wifi connection between the two. The menu on the LCD screen is also very user friendly. I was worried that I would have to sit down with the instruction manual for hours before I would be able to figure out how to print anything. Within minutes I printed a couple photos from my computer, one from the memory card in my phone, and one from my camera. The prints look great! I could not be happier with this printer. The setup was easy and the print quality is exceptional!

Update: 12/17/2010
After using this printer for a few months I am happy to say that it is exceptional! I apparently have nothing better to do so I have been keeping track of what I have printed. So far I have printed 59 4x6 photos on the photo paper glossy plus all on High Quality, and 56 sheets of regular text on standard printer paper. I have not yet changed my ink. The meter just now tells me that my ink is running low...and it is just the magenta. Great ink usage, wonderful photo quality, easy set up...I love this printer!

Digital camera Review: A Disappointed Customer
Summary: 1 Stars

I am disappointed in Canon because the PIXMA560 is very awkward to use: it seems to often expect the paper to come from the wrong place; Setting up page size, etc. is an exhausting trial by error adventure; my patience was tried so often that I returned the product. That procedure seems to have gone well!
Thank you Amazon. NOT RECOMMENDED

Digital camera Review: A Great Printer, Very Good Value
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been very pleased since purchasing the MP560 several months ago. Although there are some features lacking, the printer represents an excellent value in the price range, and suits my needs perfectly.

The printer is used in a home office / small business environment, and is used mostly for printing text and copying, with occasional use as a scanner and photo printer. Set up was simple, but I do not use this as a wireless printer.

I have found the overall print quality to be very good with both text and graphics, and photos. Although I did try some adjustments, the default settings were acceptable. Ink usage does seem a bit high, but not unacceptably so, at least for my amount of use. My one complaint with this printer is not being able to set black and white printing as a default. There is a 'greyscale' setting, but not as a default. There may be a way to do this, but I have not yet found out how.

The design and construction of the printer is excellent: the location of controls and receptacles is logical, operation is intuitive, and replacement of individual ink cartridges is straightforward. The case is nicely finished, doors and trays open and close smoothly, and operating noise is acceptable.

Attention was obviously given to design and aesthetics. The printer closes up completely when not in use, helping keep the control panel and platen dust-free, and if left closed, the out-feed tray drops open automatically when starting to print.

A fax and and a document feeder have been left off, but they are not really missed with my use. A document can be scanned and e-mailed if necessary, and document feeders on printers in this price range never seem to work well anyway. Ink usage does seem a bit high, but not unacceptably so, at least for my amount of use.

Overall, the MP560 is a great printer for the price: well constructed with good printing quality.

Digital camera Review: A Lot of Bang for the Buck
Summary: 5 Stars

I've bought several of these printers and have been impressed by their quality. Although this unit is a budget device, it's very hard to beat what you get at (or below) the $100 price point. I just hope that Canon's replacement model is as good of a deal.

Digital camera Review: A Perfect All-Purpose, Low Volume, Color Printer and MORE
Summary: 5 Stars

Having finally given up on the countless HP color printers that I have tried, I recently purchased this one because the price was right. From the opening of the box, the entire experience has shouted QUALITY in every way. While my inexpensive HP printer felt flimsy and cheaply made, this printer feels like a high-end luxury car. I am completely satisfied. (I am using it with an iMac running Leopard.)

One caveat: I am an occasional print user and usually only 1-2 pages per job and maybe two jobs per day. If you need high volume printing, this printer is NOT going to suit your needs. It is relatively slow but for my needs it is a perfect in every way.

But that is not all! The scanning function is absolutely fool-proof. You scan (one page at a time, manually) and it uses the same USB connection as for printing to send the scanned file to your desktop. It is also so intuitive to use that I have never opened the users manual since I initially installed the printer.
