I've had this printer for a month now and love everything about it, other than the software that it installed which is mildly annoying because I have to close it everytime my computer starts.
The printer works fabulously, looks great, is very compact, and has great wireless signal, and was a breeze to setup. It prints beautiful pictures with ease, it scans in a simple to understand manner, and is just generally a joy to work with. The large scale printers at work could learn a lot from this simple little machine.

It's full of stars! Absolutely the best multi function i've used to date. The starts say it all. Wireless was the icing on the cake, and easy to setup with a router to boot. if free shipping is still avail, you owe it to yourself to grab this one. I recv'd mine in 3 days. Oh I forgot to mention, the main reason i went with canon is that i own one of their photo printers and it has weathered 3 OS's driver wise and still works flawless. I had used a lexmark multi function for everything else and their drivers, both install and update, are terrible. And they did not offer a working driver for Windows 7 as of this writing. I am not one to review products that I buy but this printer stands out from the rest and definitely warrants it's own review.
Coming from an HP printer that I have been contently using for the past few years, I hadn't really know what I was missing out on but here are a few of the notable aspects of what this printer has to offer:
Setup:
It took me more time to get this printer out of the box and to remove all the tape and package materials than it did for me to set it up. Being a Mac user, I found that the best route was to plug the printer in, and find the drivers on Apple's website, as opposed to using any of the supplied software or drivers. Apple's driver's work flawlessly and I can print and scan without an frustration. I am using it with a USB cable (not supplied) so I can't comment on it's wifi connectivity, however.
Features:
I never really noticed how valuable being able to print on both sides of the sheet is. I print quite frequently for school (approx. 50-60 pages of text per week) so being able to cut the amount of paper that I would normally use in half is absolutely awesome. It not only saves trees but it keeps down costs, albiet just a couple cents per page, but that will add up over the life of the printer.
The detail and crispness of the prints when printing at the highest quality is astounding. texts reads very very well and images look perfect. Also, since the printer has two paper trays, I can keep the regular 8.5"x11" paper in the bottom trey, and use the pull-out tray in the back for glossy prints.
I have only used the scanner a handfull of times, but the scans come out bright, clear, and exceptionally detailed.
My previous printer had only two separate ink cartridges, one for black ink, the other for colors. Being that this printer has a separate cartridge for each color has helped me keep costs down significantly. while like most printers when you run out of black ink you can just go buy another, for me, I have used a lot of the magenta and had to replace that once already, and I will have to again soon. since they are all individually replaceable, I have been able to just buy the magenta cartridges and saved a bundle over having to replace all the colors at once.
Final words:
In the end, this printer is a great buy and a joy to use every time. For the price, ease of use, and the features that this printer has, I would not look anywhere else for a printer. Canon has made a great product that I would confidently recommend for anyone.

After my previous printer dying and getting tired of emailing my mom things to print for me I thought it was time I do some research and buy myself a printer for my birthday. All I knew is I wanted to find something wireless as I now have a laptop, having it do scanning and copying would be a bonus. While reading the reviews online not only did this one have great reviews, but also was one of the cheaper ones that were in my price range so I ended up buying it. (it was cheaper to buy it on Amazon than getting it on sale at best buy)
After it arrived I opened it up and started following the directions on how to set it up for wireless and the directions were so easy to follow and I had it set it up no time flat. Since then I have done it all... I've printed a ton of coloring pages for my kids (along with other stuff#, scanned some photos and made some copies of some important papers and every option worked wonderful!
I'm not anywhere close to buying ink yet so I'm not sure how long the ink will last so I can't comment on that.
Only one time did I have an issue. I wish I remembered for sure what the error was.. it was something about the printer not communicating with the computer. I ended up unplugging everything #router, printer, modem) and after awhile plugged it all back in and it's been working perfect ever since. So if you ever have a problem like that.. try unplugging things and letting it sit for awhile.
Would I recommend this printer to friends and family... YES! Out of the 3 printers I've had so far, this one is by far the best! Nothing is better than sitting on the couch with my laptop and hitting print to have it print in the other room!
