Digital camera reviews of Canon PIXMA iP3000 Photo PrinterDigital camera Review: Amazing Printer Summary: 5 Stars
After checking reviews on several low priced printers I decided on purchasing the Canon PIXMA IP 3000. I cant say enough good things about this printer. I was hoping for something that printed average photographs. I was stunned to see how good of picture was printed on this printer. Definitely the best I have seen for the price.
Digital camera Review: Amazing Printer For The Value Summary: 5 Stars
Having five kids in school who all use our networked printer, we go through at least one printer a year.
Because of this, we tend to buy a solid printer that is "cheap" on ink, has good text quality and the ability to print good quality photos from our digital camera.
We purchased the PIXMA IP3000 here at Amazon for several reasons. 1) The price was right. After applying for the Amazon credit card, we were rewarded with a $30 discount off our first purchase using the new credit card. 2) The reviews from other websites rated the PIXMA IP3000 as a high quality buy. 3) We have had outstanding luck with other Canon printers.
After a tiring year for our Canon S630, she died a quick and painless death. We were amazed that the S630 lated as long as it did. When I say we print alot, I mean ALOT. It is not unusual for us to go through a 500 count ream of paper every month. This does not include photo printing, T-shirt transfer printing and various school project prints. Having been extremely satisfied with the S630, we did our research on the PIXMA IP3000 and decided to purchase it.
Though we have only had it a few days, we can tell a big difference in the print quality. The PIXMA IP3000 uses a new technology called "FINE" which micro-manages the print head and the use of ink. This formula has made a great difference in photo printing. The quality is really amazing. We were very happy with the photo printing on the S630, but the PIXMA IP3000 has improved photo printing 100%.
The PIXMA IP3000 is a very sleek looking machine, and looks very nice in our computer room. Once closed up, you don't even know it is a printer. The duel paper feed system is a huge plus, the lower cassette will hold about 150 sheets of plain paper.
The bundled software seems to be of good quality, but we use Photo Shop for all our printing needs. The PIXMA IP3000 comes shipped with full versions of each ink tank, not the 1/5 filled ink tanks like many companies have went to.
We paid $92.17 for the printer, minus the $30.00 credit card reward for a total purchase price of $62.17. As our old S630 used the same ink tanks as the PIXMA IP3000 does, we felt that since the printer was shipped with 4 full ink tanks, we almost got this printer for free!
We used the "free shipping" option yet still received the printed via UPS in 3 days.
If this printer holds up for a year with this quality, we were be extremely happy.
Of note, the printer does NOT come with a USB cable.
Digital camera Review: Amazing printer - but DO NOT USE CANON SOFTWARE TO PRINT !!! Summary: 5 Stars
Ok this message goes out to all proud owners of a Canon Pixma :)or those who are planning to buy one - I own it myself now.
I opened the printer and printed a 4X6 photo using the accompanying Quick Print software - it yielded a print which had significant amount of 'black' areas. To my horror I saw vertical lines giving a 'artificial' or 'pigmented' effect' to the photos (Much like the CNET reviewer). HOWEVER THIS OCCURS ONLY WHEN USING CANON SOFTWARE (EASY PHOTO PRINT) - CANON WHY DID YOU DO THIS??? I then printed with Paintshoppro (You need to setup the paper correctly) - took a few trials for me. But the print quality was STUNNING!! NO leaks, no smudges, just perfect. Just one thing however, my prints did not match what I saw on the screen (the prints were a bit dark) - however with proper ICC caliberation, this should not be an issue.
Pros
+FAST
+Duplex printing
+Stunning photo quality (Better than the Walgreens prints :))
I use Kodak photo paper (glossy) and set it to - Photo Paper Plus Glossy - 4X6 - for the best results.
+ A professional, speedy, quality printer for the price
CONS
- The Easy print software kills the photo quality! Canon should get rid of it
- A bit bulky - but who cares!
Again - DO NOT USE THE CANON SOFTWARE TO PRINT - IT SUCKS BIG TIME.
I give this printer 5 starts - FLAWLESS!! text is crisp and photos are stunning!
Buy this one!
Digital camera Review: Best Inkjet Printer I Ever Owned Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this printer 6 years ago from one of Amazon.Com's partners for $39 + shipping. It is still going strong and is very reliable. I've used it with PCs and now I have an iMac that I'm using it with. However, I am now "nursing along" the print head and am looking for a replacement. Because I don't use this printer for photo printing, I don't have an issue with the color cartridges getting used up even for B&W photos. I use up the black ink faster than the other colors. What I don't understand is why this printer is now selling for over $300 on eBay and other sites, even Amazon. Back in 2004 when I bought mine, this printer's SRP was $100.
I'd recommend this printer to anyone who is considering buying it.
Digital camera Review: Best Printer I Have Ever Owned Summary: 5 Stars
This printer is compact yet useful, as well as easy to set up. Prints quickly with excellent results, even on photo quality. You can use the paper tray or manually feed paper, a nice option many other printers lack. Seperate ink cartidges are a HUGE improvement over the all-in-one color cartridge. The ink cartirdges that come with the printer are actually FULL, unlike the 10% full ones that other printers come with.
Only complaint is that the entire printer industry thinks that I have an abundance of extra printer cords laying around and they dont need to include them in the box. This is the case with every other printer as well, so dont hold it against this one.
After going through 6-8 printers before this one, I think I have finally found a printer that I am actually happy with instead of the "I guess this one will work" printers I have had in the past.
