Digital camera reviews of Canon PIXMA iP6700D Photo Printer (1441B002)Digital camera Review: Canon PIXMA 6700D Summary: 4 Stars
This printer is very quiet and Prints good pictures. Some of my best pictures were printed on matte Photo paper. I miss the automatic off and on feature that my i950 had, but I've gotten use to not having that option now. The two trays really come in handy, but you must manually switch the feeder when you want to change paper trays. The ink cartridges cost a little more than the i950, but so far, I have printed more photos than with the i950, before I needed to replace a cartridge, and so far, I have only change one, yellow.

I had an HP 5550 previously. My photos got grainy and so I decided it was time for a new printer anyhow. I love this Canon, and it is unbelievably quiet and fast! The Ink Tanks are very easy to change and you use all the tank before you have to install a new one. No Waste. I am very happy with my choice.

I received the printer in a timely manner. Set-up was easy and it has been working great. It's nice to have an ink cartrige where you can see how much ink is remaining above and beyond what the software shows. Pictures are turning out great. We've done about 350 so far.

Feedback on choice. I spent a lot of time reearching which printer to buy, not just on features but on ongoing costs. This is a better printer from all the reviews, blogs, visits with the product managers at CES staffing booths there, etc compared to printers in its class.
However, I would not recommend it. I'd spend an extra $100 and get the Canon 9000--more functionality (scanner), let compromises when they made it multifunction.
WIth this printer. great print quality. Okay set up. Had to reinstall sw twice Also, you'll probably need a print server as it is only USB out the back.
Print ink modules are $13 from 3rd parties. Think but not sure cheaper than Canon but availability through 3rd parties suggests lower cost over the long term.
Digital camera Review: Canon Pixma 6700D Summary: 4 Stars
I did not have to buy an add-on feature to use the duplex or two-sided
printing as I would have if I had purchased for $80 more the competing
HP D7360 printer. Also the Pixma holds more ink in each cartridge and for
about $4.10 more per cartridge than the HP you get close to 50% more ink
in the Canon Pixma printer cartridge. At Staples the HP printer
cartridges were $9.99 and the Canon $14.09.
The HP does have a touch screen which has more features than the 6700D
such as ink levels, whereas with the 6700D one has to go into the
software on the system it is attached to get the ink levels. And HP's
touch screen does more printing functions from the printer than the
Canon's non-touch screen display such as red-eye removal right from the
HP's touch screen. Other wise the Canon has the edge on better resolution
HP=4800x1200 versus Canon's 9600x2400. One can print from most cameras'
memory sticks directly to either printer
I picked Canon over the HP because of higher resolution, higher inkjet
cartridge capacity, and Canon's built in duplex (two sided) printing. It
was important for me that I can use this printer for more than photos but
also for regular printing tasks. Also I plan on purchasing a Canon Camera
and my perception is that it would be more compatible with a Canon
printer.
The price for the HP with the two sided printer option would have been
about $249 versus the Canon at $169. Because I also signed on to get the
Amazon/Chase credit card I was able to purchase the Canon for a total of
$132. The list price on both printers is $199 and an additional $80 for
the HP two-sided option. Otherwise you can expect to pay around $169
street price for each but there is not much discount for the HP two sided
option at $80 part number Q5582A.
Make sure you go to a store such as Staples and take a hands on look at
whatever printer your looking to purchase. And especially look at the
cost of the ink. Canon in my opinion is the "Best Buy".
