WARNING! If you use it to store your camera (what else are you supposed to do?), it will corrode the metal casing and leave you with black spots. These are permanent. These spots began developing after a few months on my Canon camera. They acknowledge this problem and will "fix" your camera, whatever that means. Apparently they will do something that will mess up the casing even more and make it a darker color. Also, Canon claims that they do not manufacture the leather case, and therefore are not liable for this defective merchandise. According to Amazon, it is made by Canon. My original SD500 and PSC 50 leather case were both stolen during a burglary. Since they were gifts from my girlfriend I tried to replace the exact items. After buying the leather case, however, I suspect Canon made versions with better quality leather.My original case seemed to be made with a much higher grade of leather. It was more smooth and elegant than the one I just purchased. Even the small metal 'Canon Powershot' emblem on the front is made with a different kind of metal (is not brushed steel like the original).
With that said, the case is fantastic. I personally would not care for the extra pocket/space for a battery or memory card, and instead am driven by what is the most compact and stylish. (But then again, when it comes to traveling this case fits inside a very nice Lowe case I have for a massive Canon SLR.)

This case is compact and to the point--no bells and whistles, just a solidly-constructed, slim case for the digital Elph series cameras. This is the best purchase I've made in quite some time. Let's face it we purchased the Canon PowerShot series camera because it takes great photos and because it's so small you can carry it anywhere without a bother. This case is wonderful. I can slip the camera in the case then put the case in my pocket and it disappears and doesn't get scratched by coins or keys that also occupy my pockets. I like to use the belt loop and attach it to my belt. That may sound geeky, but this thing is smaller than most people's cell phones that they wear in a similar fashion. If anyone saw it on my side, they would absolutely assume it was a cell phone. If you want a huge duffel bag for your miniature camera, this is the wrong case for you. But if you want a skin-tight leather case that's barely any larger than the tiny camera you purchased, then this is the case for you!Digital camera Review: Excellent and perfect fit for my S500
