Digital camera reviews of Canon Pixma MP530 Office All-In-One Inkjet Photo PrinterDigital camera Review: A good AIO for the money Summary: 3 Stars
This is a good AIO for the money and the category of printer thats its competing against. I had this for almost a month and it does a good job for what it does. I basically bought it for its printing and faxing out features which it does well. The copying and scanning features were a bonus. Too bad the screen is not backlit. Its hard to see since this is going into a computer armoire which is dark.
The AIO came with a broken yellow cartridge which Amazon cs took care of. After about 2 weeks, I started getting the alarm feature going off saying that my Magenta cartridge was empty which of course was false. I checked and sure enough it was full. I took it out and wipe the chip and the alarm disappeared but eventually returned. I called Canon customer service and they replaced that one.
This ordeal left me with doubts about this machine's quality control. I decided to just return the MP530. I knew I still liked Canon machines as all around great machines with great features. I decided to take another chance with another Canon and went with the Pixma MX850 for its great features.
I thought about the MX700 but reading the reviews left me cold about some of the features being left out compared to the MP530, namely it has bigger ink droplets and 4 ink tanks vs 5(for less clearer printed pictures)and no auto duplex function. I also thought about the MP830 but for a few dollars more why not go with the latest model. Besides the MP830 did not have ethernet which I thought was good to have. Lucky I did because I just decided to do a wireless network for my home.
All in all, I feel that the MP530 is a good AIO if you do not need the network feature. I heard the "empty" ink cartridge syndrome is prevalent on the Canon models so its hit or miss. Some have no problem while others have it. I will cross my fingers on the MX850 I just purchased.
There are no AIO that does not have one or more things wrong with them. Its all what you can put up with, IMHO.
Digital camera Review: A great machine! Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this all-in-one for about a month now and don't know how I ever lived without it. Quiet, efficient, good print quality, no glitches in operation so far. I had an old lemony Epson before so this is not a fair comparison, but I really enjoy using this machine instead of struggling to get what I needed before. Favorite feature is the 2 feeds so I can easily switch back and forth. Don't do photo printing or faxing yet, so can't speak to those features, but the copying and printing and ink useage are all top quality.
Digital camera Review: A great printer at an affordable price Summary: 5 Stars
There are so many things I like about this printer, only going to name few:
1.) prints quietly
2.) good photo resolution (we can't tell the photo print compare to photos from cvs)
3.) love the multiple paper feeder, great design
4.) the document feeder make scanning multiple
What would be nice: network support (wire or wireless), reduction in size
Digital camera Review: A great solution for a great price. Summary: 5 Stars
I have wanted an all-in-one for quite some time, and needed to wait for an old (Lexmark) prineter to die. I have owned HP, Canon and Lexmark printers in the past, and Canon and Epson scanners.
We picked this unit based in part on consumer reports information, as well as some online reviews (thank you Amazon audience).
I have used it for all of the major functions now and they have worked flawlessly.
I use it for copying and printing mostly, and will use it more heavily for scanning in the future. The document feeder works great (first unit I've had with one).
One major advantage that Canon has over it's cometitors is the separate color ink refills. Think about it this way, you waste a lot of ink if you have to change the cartridge just because the cyan is out, when you may have plenty of magenta or yellow left. Using a Canon will show how you do end up replacing them at different times, and getting more out of your ink. (I hadn't seen anybody else harp on this, so I thought I'd add it).
Digital camera Review: A little disappointed, but no regrets Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this printer with faith in Cannon and from what other people have said. But, after using it a couple of months....the scanner broke. Luckily it was still under warrenty and I had it fixed. It was a pain not having it for several days, but since then however, it's been great. It prints beautifully and is user friendly. It's attractive and feels solidly made. I don't like the fact that the display window is so small and not lit...which makes it a little hard to see. All in all, except for the original problem, this printer serves all my purposes and more. Reasonable price for the quality and options.
