Digital camera reviews of Canon Pixma MP610 Photo All-In-One Inkjet Printer (2180B002)Digital camera Review: +3 *s for brand & performance, -2 *s cost & consumption of ink Summary: 3 Stars
As far as features, this printer is a vast improvement over my older Lexmark and Canon. I love the color copying and duplex printing features. Photos come out very well. However, the price of a new printer on a great deal is not that much more expensive than the replacement ink. I haven't bothered with remanufactured or filling my own in some time since the resulting printing was disappointing. I have this Canon and another Pixma MX300. Walmart had a new Pixma MX320 (newer) for $70 while the replacement ink at Staples cost $40 for black & $27.19 for color (for MX320). I could have a newer printer including ink for the same price. The Pixma MP610 ink was $57.49 for all colored ink and my first purchase of remanufactured black ink was $14.29. These printers seem to use ink rapidly. If one doesn't mind the cost of ink or is content with remanufactured or do-it-yourself refills, this printer is highly recommended.
Digital camera Review: 4 stars AFTER exchange for working machine Summary: 4 Stars
my husband and i decided to replace our epson r300 with a multifunction since i'm no longer working in an office, yet need the scan & copy functions in addition to plain print. the canon pixma mp610 is wonderful thus far, but this is our second machine. the first one we received here was DOA but after speaking with a very helpful canon rep we were told that this happens somewhat frequently. they offered to pay for it to be fixed or to pay shipping both ways for us to return our lemon and then send us a refurbished machine that had been tested and was good to go. they couldn't have made it easier and we're very pleased with the new/refurbished canon pixma mp610 we have now. i loved my epson but the photo printing alone blows it away, and then to have scanning and copying capabilities is fantastic.
Digital camera Review: 610 MP is a great device Summary: 5 Stars
I am impressed by the functionality of the printer. I haven't had to replace the ink yet; my hope is that it uses ink efficiently. I am very pleased with it.
Digital camera Review: A Great Printer Summary: 5 Stars
This is our 3rd Canon printer of this class and they are all great. Our old HP was OK. Our old Epson was terrible. The Canons have been great.
Digital camera Review: A big improvement in every way over my HP Summary: 5 Stars
Forgetting that this is an all in one unit and simply judging it for it's printing capabilities it away my old HP photo printer. I was really not in the market for an all in one unit since I already had a scanner, but having it all in one unit is convenient. In terms of printing alone the speed and quality is amazing. My old HP never seemed to print the photos looking like they did on the screen no matter how I tried to calibrate the monitor to match the printer output. I used to have to extremely lighten up the picture with image software by trial and error. The Canon gets it almost exact and I haven't changed a setting. I love the idea separate ink tanks. I used to hate buying a tricolor HP cartridge just because one color ran out. I ended up buying a refill kit but that didn't work or hold up. I understand that the Canon has limits to refilling without disabling tank level indictors but I don't I will bother. The Canon inks seem to be pretty good in terms or results and how well they hold up over time. My only complaint and I really don't mind is that it is a bit squeaky when initializing or after printer. I actually exchanged the first one I got just to make sure it wasn't defective. The second one is better but still a bit noisy. I have also checked with others claim they have similar noise issues. The bottom line is that I would still buy this printer if I had to do it all over again. I paid [...] at Circuit City and there was a [...] dollar rebate on it at the time. I don't care about the fact that it doesn't fax since I generally fax things from work. Nowadays most faxable items can just be scanned into an email and If I really had to fax something from home I could just connect the PC's modem which I have never used. I would like it even more if it had wireless network capabilities, but I couldn't find a wireless model from Canon that would have satisfied my printing needs without going to near double the price. There were other brands that had cheap wireless available but not with the same features and or an ink system I was willing to accept.
Anyway... fabulous printer at a great price... enough said!
