Digital camera reviews of Canon Pixma MP610 Photo All-In-One Inkjet Printer (2180B002)Digital camera Review: Awesome "all on one" printer Summary: 5 Stars
I owned a canon i475d printer prior to this but that printer recently stopped working so I had to find another. I researched many reviews and found that the MP610 provided the best overall balance of high photo quality and good text printing. After seeing the photos that I have printed since receiving this printer, I am extremely happy with this purchase. I thought the i475d printed good photos but the MP610 photos are so smooth, they are near studio quality. The only negative comment that I found in the reviews was that some skin tones had a slight orange tint but I have not seen that with the photos I have printed so far. I have also used the copier on this printer which also performed excellent. The printer uses 5 different ink cartridges which were very easy to install and I think will save money in the long run since you only need to replace the color that is low unlike printers that use a single color cartridge. The speed at which photos are printed is also very good. But I will say that it is critical that you use high quality gloss photo paper if you want photos to look the best. Overall I highly recommend this printer (I paid 149 with free shipping and it is definitely worth the price)
Digital camera Review: BIG printer Summary: 4 Stars
This is my 4th Canon printer (over 15 years) , my first that is also a scanner and copier. My printer gets a lot of small business use. The Consumer Reports reviews I read before ordering recommended it. The main complaint was its size. This was not a problem for me because it's not a whole lot bigger than my old one and does way more.I actually gained space because I disposed of my flatbed scanner. My only complaint about this printer is the really flimsy paper tray. I can see why there are complaints about paper jams. I won't even try to use anything less than 8.5x11. The Amazon sale price made it a Great Deal, even with the flimsy paper tray. Print, scan and copy qualities are all better than my last Canon, which was still working fine. I only replaced it because my scanner wouldn't work with VISTA.
Digital camera Review: BYOUSB Summary: 4 Stars
I will not add to the review dialogue, the quality of the printer/scanner has been adequately addressed. I will, however, say this: Whose idea was it over at Canon to say "Gee, lets sell a printer that attaches to your computer via a usb cable, and then not include the cable. That will be awesome. Yeah, and then we can hide the memo about there not being a cable included in the box in 7-point font somewhere perplexing so only those who happened to bring a magnifying glass to the consumer electronics shop can find it. That'll be a real laugh riot"
So I happened to notice this helpful little bit of text after I got the printer home and started setting it up. Luckily I have 5 million cables lying around at my house, so it wasn't that big of a deal, but I'm sure others would benefit from knowing before they got home, on a snowy night, after midnight, with a paper due the next morning... Oh, and I thought I'd mention I picked this up at Circuit City for a cool $69.00. Good old economic crisis...
So in summary, BRING YOUR OWN USB CABLE, and it has to be A Plug to B Plug (that's the one with the skinny end and a thicker opposite end) like this: Startech 6ft Premium USB 2.0 Ab High Speed Certified Device Cable
Enjoy
Digital camera Review: Bait and switch Summary: 1 Stars
Boo.
Because of Canon's dunderheaded marketing, I bought this printer/scanner THINKING it would print DVDs and CDs. Something I NEED a printer to do.
All the reviews said it did, and comments galore raved about how it prints DVDs and CDs.
But, apparently, that's ONLY IN EUROPE.
And, the brilliant company that Canon is, they FAILED TO GIVE THAT PRINTER A DIFFERENT NAME. Or, OTHERWISE INDICATE THAT IT HAS DIFFERENT FUNCTIONS IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES.
I just saw the box and packaging go away with the recycling truck, so now I'm stuck with this crappy printer that doesn't do what it should do.
Bad Canon. Bad.
Digital camera Review: Best Buy in a LONG Time Summary: 5 Stars
When my "old" Cannon died and it woould cost as much to fix as buy a new one, I started looking for a quality photo printer. I frankly didn't realize it has all the whistles and bells it does when I ordered it. But the photo quality is fantastic! The unti copies, scans and does normal printing. Definately would recommend to anyone looking for a new printer or all in one copier. The ink prices aren't too bad either.
