I've used various brands of upper model inkjet printers and I'd say the Canon MP970 is one of the bests, its really a joy to use. The networking feature works like a breeze, print quality is excellent, paper handling such as automatic duplex printing feature is reliable, scan quality is excellent too!
You can't go wrong with this printer!

I love this printer! I couldn't stop using it the day I set it up (which is super-easy by the way). I scanned old photos and they came out clearer than the original (hard to imagine, I know!) especially when I printed them out. I just love it. This is a solid printer. It was easy to install on my Windows Vista computer as well as my old faithful XP laptop, print quality is fine, scanning is easy, wifi works great. It takes a bit longer to warm up to print the first copy than the older HP that I replaced but once it spits out the first page, it's fast and oh-so-much quieter than the HP.Digital camera Review: Fantastic all round printer

I've never owned an all in one before - but the Vista compatibility has forced me to replace both my printer and scanner at once. This unit is quite simply brilliant.
Easy setup on home network - direct printing and scanning from any network computer (need to set up with USB first - but that is not a problem at all)
Great picture and document printing at fast speeds
Phenomenal copy and scan quality on documents
Does a great job of scanning my 35mm negatives (and even did a good job of scanning 110 mm negatives once mounted in gepe 110mm slide mounts - scanning at maximum optical resolution still gave better output than my 25 year old faded prints)
The controls on the unit are a doddle to use - even my 9 year old son has little problems making copies and scans for school projects.
One of my best purchases - highly recommended.

The Canon MP970 is my first photo printer. The key things I was looking for when purchasing this were:-
-Good quality prints
-Wireless networking
-Communicates well with Mac
-Scanner
I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived home and read the manual and realized that this printer also scans slides and film. The set up was super simple, the prints are excellent and the scanning of film works superbly (scanned 34 year old slides and the quality was amazing).
The only downside to this printer, in my opinion, is the manual. Its not that easy to follow, but with a little investigation and playing around, you can pretty much figure out anything you want to with the printer.
All in all, I'm extremely pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone who plans on doing a lot of printing (as I do).
