Digital camera Review: Follow Directions!

I bought this about a month ago and it works like a charm - I use it to copy, fax, and print. The way to make it work right is to follow the instruction EXACTLY. If you don't have the know-how or the patience (it may take several hours), get someone to do it. If you take just one move out of sequence, you'll be in trouble. But, if you run programs and plug things in in the correct order, you will be rewarded with a finely tuned piece of equipment. This is definately NOT plug-n-play! I've had two of these printers, and the paper feed failed in both of them after three months. Also experienced the problem of fax tones interrupting incoming calls--very annoying. Best Buy just replaced the second unit with an MX700, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.Digital camera Review: GREAT PRINTER

After about a month of use this Canon all-in-one meets my expectations with reasoably quick and clear output. The scanner, and supplied software, work well and are easy to understand. The document feeder and copier functions also work well. I have not used the fax.
One negative is that the device ships without a USB cable.

The scanning capability is terrific, particularly compared to much larger multifunction printers. Printing is adequate. However, easily my biggest complaint is the expense of those replacement ink cartridges which go for $25 per. The unit is cheap, but Canon more than makes up for that low cost by charging so much for replacement ink which are used up very quickly. That by itself should dissuade you from purchasing it. My other biggest complaint has to do with its envelope printing. It will jam it up numerous times before you will actually get one through. At some point, you will just give up and write the information yourself which looks unprofessional. Again, on its own, I wouldn't purchase it for that reason.
