I first bought the Olympus waterproof camera and I was disappointed with the picture quality. I didn't know Cannon had a waterproof/shockproof/freezproof camera as well! I've had it for about 3 weeks and I couldnt be happier! It takes great underwater shots in the pool and still is a great point and shoot. I used it bar hopping with the friends, taking pictures at the pool, and going fishing up in the Sierra's. I couldnt be happier. It was even dropped by a friend while bar hopping from about 5 ft and nothing happened to the camera's functioning.
The only thing they could add is high def video, since most camera's come with it now a days.

I bought this camera for my trip to Costa Rica and it worked out wonderfully! I took it snorkeling and to the hot springs underwater without any issues. It's fairly durable (I accidentally dropped it hard on cement due to the odd shape of the camera, I didn't get a good grip on it - still works, though the function to change picture settings does not work properly and I will have to contact Canon to see if they can fix it). I had to buy the accesories which is overpriced for the straps which are a must-have when traveling and if you're being very active outdoors. It took really great photos throughout our trip and was very versatile. I would highly recommend this camera for the outdoor enthusiasts.Digital camera Review: Awesome camera in and out of the water

Purchased this camera for both in- and out-of-water photos. Outstanding camera; however a bit "large" and bulky by current point-and-shoot standards. The pay off is excellent quality photos. Winner of dpreview dot com's weaterproof camera round up.
In their review, dpreview summed things up very nicely: If you have even glanced at the rest of this review, then the winner should come as no surprise to you at all. The D10 produced the sharpest, most detailed images of all the cameras in this group test at low ISO settings, both in and out of the water. This, combined with responsive performance and a straightforward user interface that has been proven on other cameras in the PowerShot series, means that if you were shopping for a waterproof camera mainly to use in the water, then you can stop reading right now and go order the D10.
When you take the D10 into the water, the camera just makes so much sense. The big buttons, the placement of the controls, and large text in the menu system all contribute to improving the camera's usability. The interchangeable covers and the connector carrying system are both nice touches, as is the fact that the camera can go as deep as 10m / 33ft meaning that you can actually use it go snorkeling.
---- Update: After one month's use (none in water) now getting the "Lens Error" issue reported by others. Drat. I must reduce my review from five stars to one. :-(

We bought this camera because A. It is the only one that can go down to 33' of water without housing. Olympus can only go to 10'. B. It takes awesome land pictures as well, and C. the price was right. I love that its a 12.1 mega pixel and the auto display automatically picks the right scenic mode. Like if you were shooting a flower you don't have to go to menu select "foliage" it automatically picks it. The shape could be an improvement. Its very bubbly and hard to hold at times. The speaker is on the bottom and thats where I rest my thumb to hold it. The volume can improve...when we play back videoes I can hardly hear it. The charger is compact and convenient to carry with you. Overall, this camera ROCKS!Digital camera Review: Awesome pictures!!

This Canon PowerShot takes GREAT pictures underwater. I have enjoyed it in our pool! It also takes great pictures out of the water as well!! I love it!!
