Digital camera Review: Canon SD1000
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this camera summer 2007 and until now still work so great this camera is awesome. My friends always so jealous evrytime we were talking pictures because mine is always better picture than theirs, even their camera is more expensive than mine. I am so happy that i purchased this camera.. Get this one, you won't regret it.. Thanks Canon.

Digital camera Review: Great Point and Shoot - fun for videos too.
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a fantastic point and shoot camera. My wife loves the size which allows her to take it with her in her purse without being bulky. The camera has a host of features for the novice and allows us to play with settings or set in on auto mode for quick shots.

The camera has two features that I really like: picture delay timer and the ability to record video. While the video quality is not the best, it produces great family video which I would otherwise not be able to take. Also, the delay timer allows us to set the camera up and have everyone in the photo. The menu for these features is a breeze to learn.

Pros: Great picture quality for the camera size. Fun and easy to use.

Cons: Only 3x zoom and no wide angle shots.

Digital camera Review: THIS STAY AT HOME MOM SAYS DON'T BOTHER!
Summary: 1 Stars

This is a fabulous camera in the beginning, but I've had it in for repairs 4 TIMES FOR THE SAME THING....Several times it was under warranty, but the average cost to send it into the factory is $109. The lens has the tendancy to get stuck and doesn't work after awhile. It happened the first time during the first year I had it, although I use it a lot with two small kids...I expected for the money for it to last a lot longer. I've asked to have it replaced and they will only "repair" it usually with a cost to me! VERY FRUSTRATING! So I would have to say there is something mechanically wrong with it. I do have other family members and friends who have had the same problem. It takes awhile to act up, but then it is past the point on no return.

Digital camera Review: Great camera if you take care of it
Summary: 4 Stars

I got ahold of one of these with the infamous "stuck lens" issue. After repairing it and getting it working 100%, I'd like to share my thoughts about this camera.

For a tiny compact, this camera takes excellent pictures. Chromatic aberration (purple fringing) is minimal and there is excellent sharpness. It's fast too!

The reason for the lens being stuck was that it was full of grit - basically sand and what looked like body glitter! Realize this: whenever the lens extends, it creates a vacuum effect and sucks in whatever is around the camera; the camera is not perfectly sealed. If you keep the camera in a dirty environment, or (as is tempting with a camera this size) just drop it into your lint-filled pocket or purse without any protection, that stuff will eventually get inside the lens, and eventually jam it up.

The internal gears that drive the lens are sturdy and were none the worse for wear. After cleaning, the lens operates smoothly, and while the parts are made of plastic, it seems to be a durable plastic.

The moral of the story: just keep the camera clean and it will probably last forever.
