Digital camera reviews of Canon PowerShot SD1200IS 10 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Dark Gray)Digital camera Review: Canon PowerShot Summary: 5 Stars
Very happy with this product. Only two minor complaints: the battery dies fast and I wish it came with a case.

I have purchased two other Canon Digital cameras. Both came with a minimum memory chip. Not SD1200IS.
The Amazon ad did not tell me the camera does not come with a memory chip. When I complained to the seller, they simply replied by listing the featurs of the product and failed to respond to my complaint. Fortunately I had a 2 GB chip to use.
I have seen ads for this camera at lower prices.

Initially, I hesitated to switch from traditional film to digital out of fear that a new camera would be too complicated or difficult to understand. This Canon has proven to be incredibly simple to use and the picture quality is sensational.
For those looking for a camera that requires you to do nothing more than point and shoot, this one is the perfect choice. All you have to do is set it to "Auto," and the Canon PowerShot SD 1200IS takes care of everything. On the other hand, if you are a person who prefers to make your own adjustments and settings, that's also simple to do. Menus are clear, logical and easy to understand.
One of the very best features of this Canon is the viewfinder. I can't believe so many other digital cameras lack this extremely useful tool. A hobby I enjoy requires me to be able to take several hundred outdoor pictures in a single day without access to a battery charger. With this Canon, I can turn off the LCD screen and save battery power by simply using the viewfinder instead. Over the past ten days, I have taken more than 1000 pictures (all outdoors, no flash, without using the LCD screen) on a single battery charge. Hard to believe, but the battery still isn't depleted.
Picture quality has been absolutely outstanding. While most of the pictures I've taken so far have been outdoors, even under damp, cloudy conditions the pictures have been clear and crisp. I have taken quite a few pictures indoors with equally impressive results. Even pictures taken of a jack-o-lantern at night, with the flash turned off, turned out perfect, too.
I would highly recommend the Canon PowerShot SD 1200 IS to anyone looking for a reasonably priced digital camera that is extremely simple to use and yet loaded with great features.

Already own a Canon G6 from several years ago which is a super camera. However, we wanted something more portable to bring on vacation trips, one which would easily fit into a pocket and not be as cumbersome as my G6. We've only had it a few weeks but it seems to take great pictures although our experience has not been a lot as yet.
I do enjoy the lightness and compact size. I do miss the extra zoom my G6 gives me, but I am sure we will enjoy this as much as my other camera. I am lucky since I get to use both cameras if I so choose to! I highly recommend Canon for digital camera purchase and quality. I remember taking a class on digital photography several years ago in which the instructor stated that 'if you want a quality camera, choose one with a brand name which is synonomous with picture quality not necessarily a brand name which is noted for making computers'. That line always stuck with me and I have never been disappointed with a Canon.

Very compact, takes great pictures. The only drawback is that the battery needs to be charged before use and that limits spontaneity. I bought a second battery to keep in the charger.
