Awesome compact camera that fits in your pocket or purse to take with you everywhere!! It has more features then the Canon SD850IS so it takes a little longer to get used to, but well worth the time!!! I LOVE the red eye correction feature. My son has bright blue eyes and they are red in every picture. With this feature I can edit them right then on the camera and not have to mess with photo software on the computer. We have been using this camera for over 2 weeks. All is very-very good. The only complaint is that filming movies is not great - no zoom which messes with the focus. Beautiful design, great metal case, super clear screen, nice menus, good battery life, etc. IS (image stabilization) works VERY well, no blurred images. Images have vibrant color and have very crisp details. It is easy to accidentally change shooting modes by touching the new function-wheel on the back of the camera. I am used to checking status before shooting, but my wife has missed many shots because she accidentally changed to a manual mode.
Update - It is now May 2010 and we are still using the camera on a regular basis (proud parents of 3 little kids!). About 2 years of use and no defects or issues. We are still not happy with the limited movie mode (focus and zoom) and we have had few issues with the dial on the back... seems we are used to it. In lower light, indoor settings, we have not gotten as many good pictures as we had with our higher end Canon S3, but this is only a point-shoot camera. We still recommend this camera and we get very nice comments from those that see it in use. It is very portable, excellant construction and usually good photos result.

I've only owned canon powershot cameras. This is by far the best powershot camera that canon has producd. I've had minor complaints about past canon powershot cameras. However, this particular model has no flaws. I've owned this particular model for a couple of months now and it's honestly an amazing camera. It's very easy to use and the durability of the camera is fantastic. Most importantly, the quality is top notch.
I find it very difficult to imagine anyone not liking this camera. It's great in all aspects of a digital camera. Definitely buy without hesitation.

The pictures from this camera are as good a quality as the pctures from the Nikon D-200, if not better. Certainly easier to carry around. Haven't played too much with the video function yet but the shot I did take I fault the photographer for not reading the directions.Digital camera Review: Canon Powershot 790
