Digital camera Review: Bright Colorful Functional Sturdy and Big-Screened!

First of all, nothing beats that clear, bright, vibriant colored 3" LCD screen. I've been a loyal customer of Canon cameras. I bought this after seeing how fun my dad's 850IS was.
I've had this camera for almost 2 years now. Dropped it twice on hard floors over 3-feet height. The camera is still alive and kicking.
I take pictures of everything (switched from copying to picturing). My fav function on this camera is color accents and micro mode.
There is a matching Canon under-water housing for this camera if you are an outdoor person.
The only drawback for me is the chuncky body compared to the 850. But that's not enough to make me take 1/2 of the star off.

I bought the first Powershot 870 as a Christmas gift, and the second one for me because I liked it so much. Excellent screen clarity and brightness, the only drawback so far is the lack of a viewfinder, which helps me in focusing in on more distant objects (geese flying, etc.). But that is a minor inconvenience. Photo upload easy, and the high megapixel resolution is awesome... great enlargement clarity. Slight drawback -- it doesn't come with a case and it is not "weatherproof." But a great value for the money. I'd buy another one...wait... This is by far the worst camera I have ever purchased. Unless you are in perfect lighting you have to adjust the camera to each and every setting. The camera does have an auto setting, although it is useless.
Thinking something was wrong with my camera, I called Cannon Customer Service I was told that you can not use auto in most light setting. The representative advised that you have to go into the menu, select setting, and adjust the camera for each setting.
I am not a photographer and do not wish to be one. If you are like me and expect a camera to take a good picture in all light setting while in the auto mode, do not purchase this one. I have since purchase the Casio Exilim EX-S12 and love it!! The Casio takes an excellent picture in all lighting situations and in "auto" mode. There is no need to fumble to adjust the setting with the Castio and it is very user friendly.
