I would recommend this camera to family and friends. My buddy talked me into getting a new one since I had a new baby on the way. I bought this camera with his advice and am very pleased. The image stabilization feature is perfect for low light when you don't want to have the flash on.

I bought a Sony Cybershot before buying this camera because the Sony was cheaper. I was disappointed with the Sony and ended up ditching it and buying this one after a coworker of mine bought it and brought it in to work. This was my first Canon so I've never had a camera with the motion sensor before - that is a great feature. It can get really bothersome at times though. Some times it reverts to lanscape and it will take a couple of tries for you to get it back to portrait view. That's honestly the only complaint I have with it. Other than that- I love it. Whenever I take my camera anywhere I get tons of compliments about the LCD screen. I guess I've never noticed it before, but compared to other cameras, the Powershot does have a very bright LCD screen. The picture quality is just as great. My Sony used to take really bad night time pictures. Not the Powershot though. Even the night time pictures on this this is really great. If this camera broke today, I would QUICKLY buy the exact same camera. I'm definitely satisfied.Digital camera Review: Best Camera I Have Ever Had By Far!

This an amazing camera. I have had, olympus, older canons, sony and this camera blows them all away. The picture quality is spectacular. It makes images seem even more beautiful than real life. The video is great for a little camera. The best part is it is very quick to take one shot after another for those times where you seem to always miss your kid smile. This way you just keep shooting. This is the best model going in the Elph line The 900 and 1000 have more pixels but are slower to operate and have a less useful lens. The 870 has a wide angle fast lens and for most people is the best bet. Plenty of pixels for most people.
