Digital camera Review: Did Not Last for a Few Months

I got my Canon SX 200IS on February 2010 and it stopped working today (November 2010) without any reason. It gives an error "Lens problem, restart the camera" and Canon company charges 94$ to repair it. I don't know what to do. Canon SX200 This is a wonderful camera and it should be easy to learn to use it but the instruction booklet stinks. First it is too small and the print much smaller than makes for easy reading. The pictures of the LCD
are so dark I have to use a magnifier to see what the icons are. I have 20-20 vision so I suspect I'm not alone with my thoughts. Come on Canon,
you make a fine camera but spend a few more bucks and make the booklet easier to read, esp. for the novice trying to improve his photo skills.

I am a fan of Canon and I have owned many Canon products in the past with no troubles, however, my recent purchase of Canon PowerShot SX200IS has been very disappointing. This could be an isolated incident but I am not a happy customer. I bought this camera because it's a Canon and because of its powerful zoom lens capacity and digital picture quality, however within days (2nd time taking picture on the 10th day) of purchase the zoom lens stopped retracting and became completely useless. I usually don't buy extended insurances offered by retailer b/c I will simply refuse to buy same brand if it falls below what I come to expect from certain products. I have sent in the camera to the Canon Factory Service Center for repair at my time and cost. I am waiting for its return. I have never sent in a product back to manufacturer for repair before. Personally, I'm not really impressed with the camera. Canon can do much better, especially for the price.
Besides all the other issues:
The photos have heavy noise filtering and then sharpening.
It seems to have trouble consistently focusing.
The photos are a bit under-saturated even in bright daylight.

I bought Canon PowerShot SX200 IS from Amazon.com almost a month back!
And, I am so happy that I made the right choice for the money I paid to get this baby!
The amazing 12X optical zoom will blow your mind away...with a sharp image quality....thanks to 12 Mega-pixels!
The Strong Points -
1. Excellent picture quality
2. 12 MP ensures crispier and sharp images in good color
3. 12X optical zoom and 3x digital zoom = 48X overall zoom
4. Lots of manual controlling options to turn yourself from an amatuer photographer to level 2 or 3 photographer
5. Easy controls
6. Some coolsfeatures like color swap.... for eg. you can turn a red-flower into a blue flower! :)
7. Face detection, imagestabalizing, shak proof
8. Night time photos are of very good quality if not excellent
9. Even at 12MP, the average image size on disk is between 2 to 4 MB
The Weak Points -
1. The battery runs dry after some 225+ photos in one go (So buy a spare battery)
2. HD Video takes huge space.... a 1 min video can be 150-200 MB! (So buy a 4 GB SD card)
The bottomline - An excellent camera from Canon!
