Purchased the SD990IS from amazon on November 24th, the second day we used it the camera beeped and shutdown but the lens did not retract, now when I turn on the power the camera beeps and displays the error message. I have contacted the manufacturer and am waiting to hear back. It is rediculous that I had to call Canon on an item only a few days old. One other note, the box looked as if it had been opened and repackaged when I received it...having never had an issue with items from amazon before I decided to try it...may have been a mistake on my part, we'll see.
