Bought this mainly for Tripod fired Macro or nighttime shooting.
Using the camera 2 second delay timer was getting old fast.
The switch works well and has a locking feature.
The cable itself is about 2.5 feet long and the button works well
as the a standard shutter release button (half pressed focus full press shoots)
The only thing I can say is for the price the part that you hold feels very hollow and 'plasticky' They could have built it with more of a solid core with better materials. (Or kept it as is, and charged a lower price for it.)

As always with Canon I get what I expect. It's a simple remote switch that could be easily built at home by some techno-geek but, why bother. It's a well made compact unit that fits nicely into my already stuffed camera backpack and is a great addition to my bag of tricks.

Performs just as advertised. Much better price from Amazon than Canon. This swich works with the EOS-7D as well as all the others listed. If you need to make a perfectly steady picture this switch and a tripod are the ticket.

I initially bought this switch to be able to take fireworks pictures with my 30D on a tripod. It worked well for this application. Got some GREAT shots of the fireworks. Have since used it for some wildlife photos and it works well in this application also. The cord from the camera to the switch is only about two feet long. Sufficient for use on a tripod, but perhaps just a little short for any other application for the switch.
I consider it "overpriced" for what it is, but if you need a manually operated remote switch, it performs this function well. The release button has an option where you can lock-it "ON". It's useful if you what to leave your camera's shutter open for a long exposure.
I didn't research any other brands of remote switches for my Canon 30D. There may be others, but I was in a hurry to have something before the 4th of July, and just ordered it, since I knew is was suppose to work with my camera.
It performs it's intended design function. It's overpriced, in my estimation, but if you need one, this one will perform the job.

Typically fine original design by Canon. I have a "Chinese" copy - it really is - and it works but it's not the same as having the mfr's own.
