Digital camera reviews of Canon Rebel XS 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens (Black)Digital camera Review: All I expected and more. Summary: 5 Stars
I am an amateur photographer and I bought this camera now that I have a baby so I could take better pictures.
I have to say I have only had the camera for 2 days but I am genuinely impressed.
If I have any extra comments I will modify my review later on.
Digital camera Review: Amazing Entry Level DSLR Summary: 4 Stars
This product was bought for a digital photography class. I grabbed this one because it was easy to use. Many features are nice. The full auto function works well.. But not when you are expecting something more... Also The lens that comes with this is OK. It gets the job done. However, It doesn't really allow you to zoom in very far. For example, I took a photo of a spider, however, I had to get about a foot away from it before it would zoom to the crop that I was looking for. The quality of the pictures is awesome! Even if you can't zoom in as far as you want, you could always zoom in on the computer and crop. The deep colors in this SLR are amazing. On the Landscape setting you get deeper and richer colors in your blues and greens. Kind of a post card effect. Overall, I am very satisfied with this SLR.
Digital camera Review: Amazing! Summary: 5 Stars
I got this camera a couple weeks ago and all the pictures I've taken have left me (and everyone I know) highly impressed. No complaints. Great camera for the price!
Digital camera Review: Amazing. Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great camera! I thought that the size would be an issue but it feels good holding it. I love the picture quality and even though you don't know how to take pictures like a professional, you will always end up getting GREAT pictures. No matter how hard you try, you will never get a horrible picture! I love it!
Digital camera Review: Amazon had the best price on this idiot-proof entry level digital SLR. Summary: 4 Stars
I got this new "toy" for my first Father's Day this year. The best thing about it in the short term was Amazon's price - at least $60 less than anywhere else, PLUS no tax and free shipping!
It comes rated as #4 or #5 on Consumer Reports' list in the July 2009 issue, just behind the Rebel XSi (the 12 MP version of this camera).
We owned a point-and-shoot Canon Powershot before this and Canons have always been in my opinion user-friendly. So far I love all the different shooting modes and the crisp, clear pictures this SLR camera makes. I'm a complete novice when it comes to photography but this camera seems idiot-proof; you can go from complete manual mode to partial manual to full-auto just with a turn of the dial, and I'm having fun experimenting with changing shutter speed, aperture, etc. and seeing how that changes pictures.
We bought it mainly for the 3 frames-per-second capability, so we can capture our 4 month old son's smiles that we keep missing with our old point and shoot. Watch out - you will fill up a memory card fast!
To that end, I would buy the biggest Secure Digital card you can reasonably afford for it. 8GB at least. And apparently the "Class 6" SD cards are "faster" than "Class 4". Something to consider.
