Digital camera reviews of Canon Speedlite 430EX II Flash for Canon Digital SLR Cameras

Digital camera Review: Amazing. I wish it had been my first camera accessory.
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm a novice photographer who started with a Rebel XT and recently got a T2i. Over the past few years I purchased a few consumer-grade lenses and was very happy with what they could do. I just couldn't justify spending $200-$300 on a big light bulb. But after buying this flash, I absolutely regret that the flash wasn't my very first purchase after the camera body and first lens.

I like to take photos indoors of my dogs and of friends and family when they're over, and even a stabilized lens often isn't good enough to take well-exposed pictures in indoor lighting (plus, the lighting color/direction can be weird sometimes). With this flash and some white ceilings, my problems are solved. It's so easy to use too -- just aim it at the wall or ceiling and let the E-TTL II take care of metering. Amazing.

Digital camera Review: Amazing..
Summary: 5 Stars

First I bought a Speedlite 270, the little brother of 430 EX II. But that was too weak and almost same power as the camera pop up flash. So I returned it and got this one, and I love it. Just bounce it off the ceiling and enjoy...!!

Digital camera Review: Amazingly Powerful Flash at a Great Price!
Summary: 5 Stars

I own two of these, and frequently use them for portraits and product shots (on and off camera). They have a good, solid construction and a very easy-to-use design. The metal hot shoe and locking clip provide security during use. The power of these flashes, coupled with the flexibility of the swiveling head will give you more creative room to work. The use of standard AA-size batteries (NiMh recommended) keeps costs down and eliminates the complications of trying to hunt down odd-ball batteries. I would also recommend the Sto-Fen omni diffuser for an added touch of softness when using this flash direct. Sto-Fen OMEW Omni-Bounce Diffuser

Digital camera Review: Awesome buy
Summary: 5 Stars

Overall, this is one awesome flash. Too bad it can't act as a master flash unit but otherwise, it's a solid flash unit. Recycling time is fast and absolutely silent and this thing can provide some nice exposure. It also works seamlessly with the EOS cameras which is really nice. It made my indoor shoots a lot more enjoyable.

Digital camera Review: Awesome flash, but can eat batteries
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great flash. It has a quick start up time. The head can rotate almost 360 degrees. It is worth the money!

My only complaint is if you are shooting alot of pictures - 500 pics at a clip - it can eat batteries. I recommend spending a little more for the energizer lithium batteries. They last twice as long as the regular batteries.
