another great flash by canon, needed a master flash for my other canon speed lite collection and this was obviously the next step. if you need only flash and didn't want to spend the money spend the money this is only a couple of hudnred or so more than 400 series, you will end up getting this if you plan on doing any type of studio, photoshoot or project. company was fast and reliable and no issues on shipping.Digital camera Review: 580E II flash

Awesome, functional, easy to use, knockyersocksoff, bright as H___ and has a PC plug flash unit.
Wish my old 580 was this good.
If you don't have one you best get one. I highly suggest you have one in your pack or bag. Great with the 70-200.

I was hoping this flash would be sealed enough to use in light rain and it looks like it will. It is nice to have the auto function. However with a subject at a distance it seems to be better to use it on ETTL.
The older version has a switch for using this flash with more than one unit. The new II flash removed the switch and has software controls that are a bit cumbersome but they work--just not as fast switching between multi-flash units and on-camera only.
A great flash made better with the weatherproofing and a steel foot (HooRay!).
