Digital camera reviews of Canon TC80N3 Timer Remote Control for EOS D30, D60, D10, 1D, 1V & 20D SLR Cameras

Digital camera Review: Canon TC80N3
Summary: 4 Stars

This remote timer is a "must-have" for anybody doing work where there must be no vibration (still studies, etc), or for extremely long delayed pictures or for very long exposures. For those familiar with the Canon T-90, this gives most of the functionality of the data back, plus extremely long timing periods for all functions. The instructions are thorough and easily understood. The unit integrates into the camera well, my only complaint is I wish the cord were a foot longer, the optional camera case for the 20D/30D must be removed before using the timer/remote.

Summary: 4 Stars

I have only had the TC80N3 remote for a short time but it has proven to be invaluable. I have read other reviews complaining that the buttons are too small but I personally have not had any issues, and I have big fingers. There are multiple combinations for timing and delay that I haven't even touch yet but it has functioned as advertised.

The only(minor)downside is the lack of a power button to turn the device off but that is easily corrected by opening the battery tray.

TC80N3 maded by Canon does what it said it does for my 7D, with much room to spare. Good product, but a little pricey and the cord should be 12 ins. longer. Although, the timer does not have a on/off switch - I really do not for see any issues there. I didn't try any other units but it can be said go with what you know. I also understand there is a quick fix to lenghten the cord with T-3 wire and 2 males and 2 females. Canon also sells (I beleive) a 10 footer. Zackski

Digital camera Review: Canon TC80N3 pricey but nice addition
Summary: 4 Stars

It is really nice for remotely operating the camera (I have a 40D). I use it for night-time shots and for the intervalometer. My only complains are price and the cord length. It would be a good deal under $100 but at $160, not so much. Also, the cord could stand to be twice as long if not more; one meter comes up a little tight for low shots with tall people (like me).

Digital camera Review: Canon Timer Remote
Summary: 5 Stars

Works great and saves me a lot of time and effort. The cord could be longer, maybe a foot or so, but for macro or night sky shots it is plenty. I would recommend a piece of velcro on your tripod and the back ot the remote to keep it from dangling and getting tangled.

The only issue that I have with this unit is that the extension cord costs way too much considering that it is only a piece of wire and canon only end pieces.
