Digital camera reviews of Canon UV-1 58mm Haze FilterDigital camera Review: Nice Canon filters Summary: 5 Stars
I bought two of these. They are cheap Canon UV filters but serve their purpose well. Use them as lens' protector.
Digital camera Review: No Degradation Summary: 5 Stars
I took a few identical photos with and without this filter, and saw no difference in sharpness nor contrast. So, if you're looking to save damage to your lense, this is the way to go. I like being able to clean this filter quickly. Otherwize I would spend 10-20 minutes cleaning the lense being so very carefull not to scratch it. Also, it can minimize UV haze... but I havn't compared with/without for that type of situation. (PLEASE COMMENT IF YOU HAVE A DIFFERENT OPINION ... (BRAND))
Digital camera Review: No complaints Summary: 5 Stars
Ordered one in March and its came in fine (not used or abused like others have mentioned).
Amazon.com was the retailer.
I use it mostly for the lens protection aspect and it works great, in fact I'm ordering another right now.
Digital camera Review: Not Recommended Summary: 1 Stars
I do not recommend this filter. I used it on my efs 18-55 kit lens for protection. However, I found that it increases flare and lowered the sharpness of my images. My kit lens is now filter-less and taking nicer photos.
I use a Hoya Super HMC 58mm UV filter on my EF 70-300IS lens and have experienced none of these issues. It only cost about $25.
Digital camera Review: Not the correct lens for my camera Summary: 2 Stars
I ordered this lens when I ordered my camera. The lens came up in the search for a cannon s5 and when I got it, turned out to be way too big for the lens.
