I purchased the Canon MF4150 in December 2007 and I must say, I have been pleased with it. I use my printer conservatively for home printing. I've been pleased with the output quality, except there was a time when I may get a light 1/4" line down the middle of a duplexed page. Somehow, it went away. Still duplexing is a great feature. I'm commenting today because of the price that they are offering this printer for. I paid $199.99 when I bought it. And I see that they have a newer version. I'd check that out. I did not like the scan and OCR software that came with it; I use software now that makes it more usable for me. Additionally, I suggest that you look for a MFP that also has network printing capabilities - more flexibility (i.e., value) for the long run.Digital camera Review: Great all-in-one product

I couldn't be happier with this printer. I got it for $150 on sale here at Amazon, but even at $225 it's still a steal. It is everything my HP Photosmart C3180 wasn't, and here is why I like it:
1) Excellent print quality for my needs. Even with "toner save" turned on, text and images are printed evenly, without any lines or other blemishes.
2) Automatic duplex. This was a big selling point for me, and now that I have it I don't know how I got along without it!
3) The toner is CHEAP! You can find cartridges that last for 2000 pages on ebay for significantly less than $30. Keep a spare so you never run out.
4) It prints quietly and fast, even in duplex mode. I'm a teacher and always printing handouts for 25+ students and it can handle this in no time.
5) Almost no paper jams. Even envelopes can be fed through without incident.
Many have bemoaned this printer's inability to operate on a Windows network from a Mac machine. However, I have the printer hooked up via USB to my Windows XP desktop and can print to it from my Vista laptop (over wireless network) and now from a Mac Mini connected to the network via ethernet. There are a lot of steps to set it up, but if I can do it I'm sure you can do it.

The MF4150 is an excellent product. I purchased one for home, and found it so useful that I obtained two more at work for my assistant and I. I bought this to replace a HP 1012, which I gave to my brother. For $130, I have, at the least, a very good printer and copier. Just avoiding the inconvenience of going to a copying shop to copy a few pages is worth a great deal, particularly since I tend to procrastinate. I don't fax much, but faxing seems to work fine. I don't have a web site, so I don't need to scan.
The duplex printing is a pleasure, but does not seem to work with .pdf files. Since I have few problems with paper handling when I print odd then even sides, that has not been a major difficulty. Only happens after printing over a hundred or so pages. Let the machine cool a bit.
I have had the same problem with the fax chiming in over regular phone calls as others mention. Since I usually leave the machine off to save energy, that has not been a major problem.
What HAS emerged as a problem is the absence of a Canon driver for Linux. In particular, LinuxMint has emerged as an excellent, free, user-friendly operating system based on Ubuntu. (Version 7 came out last week.) I have to save files to Windows XP in order to print them on this Canon. Also, of course, I have to maintain Windows XP as a viable installation.
Overall, for $130 this has been a bargain, with some noted limitations.
