Digital camera reviews of CardScan Executive v8 Card Scanner

Digital camera Review: An Excellent Investment
Summary: 4 Stars

This is an excellent investment if you are in a profession that requires you to keep in touch with a large number of people. I set mine up and had it working in minutes and scanned in 43 cards immediately. It syncs with Microsoft Outlook, which then syncs with my iTunes/iPhone. It easily got over 99% of the data correct and the ones it missed were because of odd graphics on a business card, which no machine could read. Hugely efficient.

Digital camera Review: As Fast To Enter Manually - A Lot Cheaper
Summary: 1 Stars

This thing never worked that well to begin with, but it was kind of cool to have a card image occasionally. As other reviewers have noted, you still have to carefully look at the card and compare it to the data and something will need to be added or corrected on nearly every card. The last straw though was my long "chat" with Tech Support when in the end they wanted $120 for new software to run with Win7. No way. It was never worth $120 to begin with. In the end, manually entering the data is faster.

Digital camera Review: Best Card Scanner I've Used
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had other card readers in the past (I usually bought the cheapest one I could find), but when my second card scanner bit the dust, a friend recommended the CardScan. The price was a little higher than the ones I have purchased in the past, but in this case it is true, you get what you pay for. The interface is very intuitive and easy to learn. It is small and easy to pack (I travel a lot) and reads the cards with out error. I highly recommend this device and will recommend it to everyone.

Digital camera Review: Best Organizing Tool and Best Investment
Summary: 5 Stars

I used IRIS CardPro on Win XP but I upgraded to Vista Business and thus had to use CardPro on Virtual PC or buy a new card management software/scanner. As I already have a file that contains more than 1,000 contacts, I was reluctant to buy a new one due to the initial switching cost. However, I was not satisfied with the IRIS product and bought this one.
I have to say that this produuct is working much better than I thought. Scan speed is faster and sequential read process is very efficient. Software is not perfect but much much smarter than the IRIS with regard to the accuracy of OCR capability. Verification process of the read card information is intuitive. Editing is much easier than IRIS. Its free web back-up feature is nice and useful. Only downside I found for this product is its limited multi-language capability. I have not encountered any issues yet and I cannot confirm the quality of their support, but I feel that the product quality and the added value to my business are more than offsetting any (including possible) downside.

VERY highly recommended!! 6 stars. I am serious.

Digital camera Review: Buy a Cardscan product only if you want to waste your time and money.
Summary: 1 Stars

Actually zero stars.

I've bought hundreds of items off of Amazon since the site began and have never written a revue until now. This has to rank as the most disappointing and frustrating product I've ever purchased.

I had the scanner for a week and scanned less than 20 cards before it broke down. It stopped capturing card data and syncing with the software but the motor on the scanner would run incessantly. The only way to make it stop was to go into the task manager and shut down the software.

I tried updating the software, reinstalling it on my computer and reinstalling it on a new computer.

Tech support is as terrible as the other reviews state. I was on hold for 48 min before they picked up and then the tech was frazzled, rude and ultimately unhelpful.

After wasting $200 and several hours I'm cutting my losses, tossing it in the trash and starting over.
