Digital camera Review: Expect to keep paying

Product worked ok for a while with Outlook at Windows XP. However, after upgrading to Windows 7 I was shocked to learn that I had to pay $119 to upgrade the Cardscan software. Product also lacks the ability to sync with online contact databases such as Google Apps (gmail). I can not recommend products from companies who double-dip their customers by charging outrageous fees to keeping the product functioning and relevant.Digital camera Review: Frequent Errors

I just installed the Card Scan Executive for my division and am finding discrepencies between the card and the scan image about 30% of the time. As a result, it is necessary to check each scan for errors, which was an unpleasant surprise. Although it is still faster than typing all of the information in yourself, the system is certainly not flawless.Digital camera Review: Good product; software installation has problems

Overall, I really like the product. However, I have been on the phone with customer service twice about how it interacts with my palm software (trouble getting the two to synchronize) and had to reinstall the software a couple of times due to glitches which caused the software not to recognize the scanner. My computer also froze shortly after the installation and I have no idea if it was related to the software. After many hours at the repair shop the computer and cardscan seem to be working and when they are I am pleased but I am suspicious that the V. 8 software was not fully tested and that my issues are a result of a premature release. This is a great product from a functionality perspective, but really poor quality. The first unit I had worked for about 2 weeks, and then crashed. It took days to get someone on the phone, but when I did, they were great, and sent a replacement unit right away.
That one lasted for 3 days before it had the same problem as the first one (gets stuck in continuous feed mode without recognizing cards).
When it worked, it was great - very little editing needed - and good synchronization software - and obviously some folks have no problems - but the quality of the scanner unit itself is just very inconsistent. I just can't recommend it...

I had no trouble hooking this product up. It scanned quickly as stated. There was a problem with scanning some darker colored business cards. Also, I have many business cards that have some Chinese characters on parts of the card and then the same information in English. Those cards obviously were a nightmare. It is tough to go through each card item by item to review but it is much better and quicker to do that than to hand enter. Within a week of me getting my cardscan my computer took a dump so I got a whole new computer/set up to Windows 7 and Outlook 2010....this machine and my Scan Snap desktop scanner don't work with Windows 7 and so I returned the card scanner. Now I am off to find something just as good that will work with my new set up.
