Digital camera Review: A priceless way to share memories
Summary: 5 Stars

I think the Ceiva picture frame is great. It looks great in my bedroom and the set-up was so simple that my 2 year old son practically did it on his own. (There's only 2 buttons--how EZ!) I was pleasantly surprised to see how large the screen was ( I saw another tiny frame in a store with an outrageous pricetag on it). I love that I can receive as many as 10 pictures a day. I think anymore pictures than that would be a nuisance. The picture quality is great. Overall, I whole-heartedly give it two BIG thumbs up. But wait until you hear my story...

I gave one to my grandmother (also a great-grandmother). She doesn't even know that the "internet" is in her home, much less owning a computer. But this "internet-connected" Ceiva picture frame sits on her diningroom table. I sent her and other family members pictures of her and grandpa (from over 50 years ago) and the next day, it magically appeared on their ceiva's. I wish I would have recorded grandma's voice. Her heart was touched so deeply by these photos. The next time she visits grandpa's grave, I'm sure she will be telling him how much he's still a part of his families lives, even if he hasn't been with us for over 30 years. Times like these are just priceless--Thank you Ceiva. Now I'm waiting for my friend to send me some brand new photos. She promised me she will send me pictures of their new little baby the same day she delivers. WOW! What an instant world we live in. Rock on Ceiva!

Digital camera Review: A very popular gift
Summary: 5 Stars

We've given this gift to several of our family members and it has been a HUGE hit. Our family is spread out all over, and many of them are not computer savvy.

It has allowed my grandparents, who are thankfully still with us, to see their great-grandchild grow up on a daily basis even though they live very far away from us and are so afraid of new technology that they don't even have a VCR (they got one as a gift once, but it was "too complicated" so they gave it back. They absolutely love the Ceiva.

We are able to send out photos to all of these Ceivas and when our family members wake up in the morning, they are on display. Do I wish the service was cheaper? Well sure, it is always nice to spend less money, but I think the service is worth the fee because of the amount of joy it has brought to the people we have given it to. It helps us feel very connected over the many miles.

I've had to contact customer service around 6 times on behalf of the various Ceivas we've purchased. The first two times they were great and fast. Then they went through a period of being very slow. I think their sales outpaced their expectations and they weren't ready for customer service. The last two times I contacted them the response was reasonably fast, and they took care of the problem completely. As of the last time I spoke to them they were taking care of customer service in house still, which I am very glad of. I am so sick of companies who outsource.

Digital camera Review: A way for multiple generations of family to come together
Summary: 5 Stars

This product is really great. It has won over several generations of my extended family. Most of them were initially skeptical about "Carol's latest cute tech toy", but all have been won over.

My beloved 95 year old grandmother began to develop Alzheimers. I wanted to continue to share my experiences, my vacations and--most importantly--my children's growth with her. This picture frame was the answer. I can easily load pictures into the Ceiva site and quickly send them to her frame even though she lives far away. I put captions on the pictures to jog her memory since she sometimes gets her great-grandchildren mixed up. She rally likes it and it is the envy of the other people in her unit.

But this frame is not only for great-grandmothers...My parents had it for a couple of months between Thanksgiving and Christmas. They were initially skeptical, but by Christmas when it moved to my grandmother's place, they really liked it. Now I think that they want one... We got one for my in-laws and they love it too. The very day after their 60th wedding anniversary bash, we had a bunch of pictures of the party on their frame in their home.

They are also a good gift for a child who is is going off to college. They may not admit that they want one, but they will appreciate it. You can give their friends permission to upload pictures from their computers too.

The person who has the frame does not have to have any computer skills at all. All they need is an electric socket in the wall and a conventional phone jack. They even enclose a Y connector so you can have your phone and the frame on the same phone jack. However the person who sends the picture needs an Internet connection, and either a digital camera or a color scanner. Beyond that it is really easy.

Before you buy, you need to make sure that Ceiva has a local line to the town where the frame will be. If not, you can pay extra for an 800 number connection. So far this has not been a problem for us. You need to pay a monthly fee to maintain the frame. Depending on the way you buy the service, it is about $5-7 per month per frame.

Digital camera Review: Absoulutely awesome gift for parents and grandparents!
Summary: 5 Stars

No question, the best gift we have ever given our parents. Being 900 miles away from them with 2 small grandchildren is hard, but they have loved getting fresh pictures each day. I also send greetings for birthdays and holidays in the mix. None of them have a computer or high tech knowledge but it doesn't matter as I control all functions from my computer. It only has two buttons, one to make the slide show start and the other for brightness control. It only needs to be hooked up to a wall outlet and a phone outlet (anyone can figure out how to do that!). So simple. I even preloaded them with pictures before I gave it to them so it would turn right on with their grandkids' faces as soon as they plugged them in. And the yearly fee is less than internet service or making reprints of all of your pictures (really!). A gift they will really use and enjoy!

Digital camera Review: An amazing photo frame
Summary: 5 Stars

Twenty years ago I dreamed that someday I could have a place in my home to show my slides, with light shining through an image instead of reflecting off of it. There is just an amazing difference in the quality of the light.

A few years ago I read about a viewer you could build into a wall, with good lighting behind it. I think the cost was more than $1,000 well beyond anything I could hope to afford. And each image could be blown up to show on it, one at a time of course, for about $150 as I recall.

This year I found that I could have all that and more, in a portable device. This is simply an amazing photo frame, and I love the way it automatically "phones home" in the middle of the night to find out if it has any new pictures or instructions.

I loaded 10 pictures into my Ceiva recently and set it in the front room during a birthday party we hosted. Without exception, every guest marveled at it. Kids peeked behind it to see what the secret was. Everybody wanted to talk about it. I'm sure I had one of the first half-dozen of these in the whole city, and it's cool, cool, cool.
