Digital camera reviews of Ceiva Digital Photo Receiver Model LF2000Digital camera Review: Ceiva Digital Imaging Summary: 5 Stars
I wanted to forward my enthusiastic response and acceptance of the Ceiva Digital Picture Frame. This product is one of a kind and has been a big hit with my family and friends. The ease of use is one of it strongest selling points From the day that I received it I found the instructions for use to be extremely user friendly and easy to connect from the box to the end of my desk in my home office. I had read alot about this technology in the Wall Street article and the USA Today advertisement. I was able to easily access the Ceiva web site to start downloading my digital pictures. Once I master the site and increase my output of pictures I am going to buy one for my parents and in-laws to showcase our twins due in November of this year. Overall I thought the product was well packed to resist damage, included easy to use instructions for hook up and straightforward and insightful instructions on how to get started and begin to download digital photos. I am wondering if the company is looking to expand on the size of the frames 8X10, etc., because I would think my parents would enjoy seeing the new grandbabies not only on a 5x7 frame but also a larger size. I am extremely satisfied with my complete experience with this item and applaud you for staying on the cutting edge by providing your consumers these options. Thanks Sincerely, Mark Rothwell

Unless you have a lot of money to throw away, and/or you plan on rotating digital images at least once a week, this is not a smart buy. With the high initial cost (...) and annual subscription (...), you can save much more money by having prints made of your digital photos (about $1/photo) and putting them in an old-fashion frame (that costs less than $20). Although the quality of the image is solid, you have to look straight into the frame in order to view it clearly (i.e., if you are looking at it from even a slight angle, you cannot see the image). And, don't forget that each frame has two wires protruding from it: one that connects to the phone line, and the other that connects to an outlet. In other words, you need to have the frame near both an electrical outlet and phone jack (not to mention you have to find a way to hide the wires). Wait until some decent form of digital photo frame is developed - and more much less.
Digital camera Review: Ceiva Digital Photo Non-Receiver Summary: 1 Stars
Thought I had bought the perfect present for my "techno challanged" mother. Little did I know, that this little device would challenge my "techno" skills (I used to build computers and did a bit of software design on the side).
The short version it is that the Ceiva went back to CompUSA for a refund.
The long version (casual buyers exit here) is as follows:
1. Found perfect present...bought it and went home feeling quite smug that I had looked at all of the online reviews and knew that the only problem is that the download speeds are slow.
2. Found out that the download speeds are non-existant....spent 1 hour on the phone with customer service to get this thing set up, and it still would not dial in....saw a bunch of nice pictures on the pre-loaded slideshow though (good news is that I tried to delete these, and could not...would not let me...so when Grandma cannot see your kiddies....at least she can see some other peoples kiddies).
3. Gave it the final effort and tried one last time to get the thing to work. Was told by customer service to push the little white and black buttons in a certain order and that the unit would magically (insert pixie dust here) work....When I asked why this "magical" button push incantation was not included in the manual, was told that they "forgot" (Sorry granny...not good enough to be computer savvy or "magical", but you also have to be a mind reader). In any case, the "magical" white and black button push incantation did not work...so "as if by magic" my credit card is being credited...
Digital camera Review: Ceiva Frame Summary: 5 Stars
Our daughter and Son in Law gave us one of these for Mothers and Fathers Day last year, and it is the most wonderful gift! Our children, and their children, live all the way across the country from us, and one even lived in Mexico for a while, but we got pictures from all of them! It is such a treat to get up in the morning and see NEW PICTURES of the kids, babies, pets, houses, anything! It is easy to hook up, just need a phone plug and an electric plug, and you are all set! We love it!
Digital camera Review: Ceiva Frame Not Perfect, But Close Summary: 4 Stars
We live overseas, and thought the Ceiva frame would be a perfect way to share our photos with our family in the US. We ordered one for one internet-challenged family member as a test case, and were very pleased. Here's what we found:- Set-up - was easy, and the frame did what it was supposed to do. It only has two buttons, and holding one forces the frame to connect immediately. We had a few problems initially with establishing a connection, but after a few tries (and a call to Ceiva) we managed to get it set up. The website is very easy to use. - Color and Resolution - we found that the pictures Ceiva included with the frame (the ones done by professional photographers) looked better than our first attempts. However, when we selected pictures with bright colors and used photo editing software to blow up the images, adjust them to the frame pixel size, and save them in the file size Ceiva suggests, we got better results. The frame is in a low light area, so it actually looks pretty good. Keep in mind that at under $300, it isn't going to look like your $x,000 laptop's active matrix display, but it isn't bad. - Phone Connections - We found the connection time with Ceiva to be longer than they say. Even if the frame doesn't have much to do, it seems to tie up the phone line for 15-20 minutes. As one of our relatives lives in a city without a Ceiva connection, we worried about this. However, be realistic - how often are you really going to update the photos? The phone can be unplugged and the frame will still work. All the relative has to do is plug in the frame once a month or so, do a manual connect, and live with a 20 minute long-distance call - probably less than the 800-number service. - Grandparent Satisfaction Factor - This is, of course, the most important part of the frame. The grandparent in question LOVES the frame, loves walking through the room and seeing updated photos, and has told us many, many times how much they enjoy the Ceiva. Not to mention the positive comments the grandparent has had from visiting friends! Yes, a lot of the complaints from other reviewers are valid, but with some work, the Ceiva is a great gift. Yes, it would be nice to have an active matrix screen, but we couldn't afford it. Yes, the logo is large, but after the first five minutes, you don't notice it anymore. Yes, the pictures are very poor if the frame is in a high light area, but with a good location and careful editing, the photos can look very good. Yes, the resolution on a good computer screen is better, but how often will your parents or grandparents turn on the computer to check a website? These pictures are there, in the living room, all the time. One additional plus - we have multiple family members who enjoy receiving photos. Ceiva allows multiple frames to be registered on the same account, and you can send pictures to all of the frames in your account. We have now purchased additional frames for the rest of the family.
