Digital camera reviews of Celestron Power TankDigital camera Review: Amazing! Summary: 5 Stars
This thing is great, built like a tank with many clever features. If nothing else, it is the best flashlight I have ever owned. The spotlight can be tilted over a 180 degree range and uses a 55W halogen bulb. The smaller flashlight/emergency light uses a smaller 6W krypton bulb and includes a red filter which is strapper to the handle to keep it from getting lost. The battery can be recharged with the included AC adaptor or the cigar lighter in your car. There is a handy storage compartment in the rear of the unit to store the DC recharging cord. An elaborate display of LEDs provides status of the battery and charging process. A shoulder strap is also included, as it weighs 8.4 lbs. There are plenty of outputs and power to easily drive two telescopes and your radio or CD player.
Digital camera Review: Awesome Summary: 5 Stars
The brightest light I have ever held. Very easy to use and great for Telescopes or anything you need alternate power for. Its not light but nothing someone 13 years and older couldn't handle.
Digital camera Review: Celestron Power Tank Summary: 4 Stars
Celestron Power Tank
The power tank is an excellent source of energy for my Celestron SE 8 telescope. It eliminates wasting batteries and provides the right amount of power to energize the scope. It's great not having buy batteries and it's also wonderful to not have a power adapter cord getting in the way. The only drawback is the weight of the power tank since I carry my scope to my outside deck. This is a very worthwhile accessory for Celestron SE telescope owners. I'm very satisfied with my purchase.
Digital camera Review: Celestron Power Tank - Poor quality item - 7ah unit Summary: 2 Stars
I purchased the Celestron Power Tank 7ah from Amazon to replace a similar unit from another manufacturer that quit charging. I opened the box, read the instructions, tried to charge the battery per instructions. As soon as I plugged the charger in the 110v outlet, the charger sparked and died. Can't find another 15v charger so am charging with a 12v charger which seems to charge the unit.
This seems cheaply made for the cost ($68 with tax). I don't use it for a telescope but as a 12v power supply for other small items. I am disappointed in the unit but will keep it until it dies, which probably won't be long.
Digital camera Review: Celestron fails again Summary: 2 Stars
The item arrived loosely packed, one of the adapters was bent and power chord was missing. It's almost like this item was used by someone else, returned and then resold. who knows.
The instructions did not even mention how to use it with the Celestron telescope that part you have to figure out on your own. I've bought the NexStar 8, the set of extra filters and lenses and this power pack. I don't know why but Celstron documentation on all three products is erroneous or just lacking. The telescope info was inaccurate and had outdated info from an older manual and the filters and tank had minimal info. It's almost like they were too cheap to spend the money on hiring someone to create useful documentation.
They are very slow to respond to repsond to phone or email requests for support. Do yourself a favor and do not buy Celestron products there are plenty of other qualified makers of this type of product.
