This is a Chinese item with entertaining Chinese English text. It is definitely brighter than a red pointer but to see the "beam" you really must be in a DARK place.
This item comes in a plastic box, as pictured. It was sent to me first class in a paper envelope with NO packing material of any kind whatsoever. The box was broken upon arrival and the cheapo batteries were rolling around in the bag. You might want to order it from a company that could invest in 15 cents worth of bubble pack or something, especially if you intend to give it as a gift.
For some reason my cats like chasing the red (dimmer) pointer spot better.
