Digital camera reviews of Cisco-Linksys CIT400 Dual-Mode Internet Telephony Kit with Integrated Skype

Digital camera Review: CIT400
Summary: 4 Stars

The product works fine, very easy to configure, has a good range from the base, the battery life is very good, either in stand by or in use; the only thing that is missing is the ability to connect more than one handset, in the linksys site they mention that this is posible, however I hadn't find any information related.

Digital camera Review: CIT400 Awesome
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased my CIT400 about a month ago. I initially activated it in MN and had no problems, but was concerned how I would enter my password that has both alpha and numeric. Unbeknownst to me, after I entered a "b" for instance, if I kept pressing that key I would eventually have a "2" available. Apparently a cell phone works the same way, but I had never experienced this before. After this discovery, I had no problem entering the password. A couple of weeks ago I took the CIT400 to FL and installed it. It worked immediately. However, my connection was very poor and I could only partially hear words. Traced the problem to my router (different than what I had in MN) and after I disabled the "Firewall" and unchecked "Block WAN Ping," everything worked fine. Obviously this was a router problem and not a CIT400 issue, but thought I'd mention it anyway.

Not sure how long the battery lasts on a call, but my wife spent 84 minutes on the phone without any problem the other day.

Digital camera Review: CIT400 on Amazon Rocks!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

It's a LinkSys. Great price under 90$ and free shippings. What do you want more? Buy it!! The CIT400 router and handset that I received have a different color and a different LinkSys logo (dark gray). Other than that no problems at all. I also purchased a 110/220V adapter because I am planning to use it from Italy this summer. If interested buy an AC adapter capable at least of 30 watts (the two ac/dc adapters require 12+14.5W). Thanks Amazon!!

Digital camera Review: CIT400: It was the best of times, it was the worst of times
Summary: 3 Stars

I'm on my second CIT400 phone, as the first one acted strangely. Linksys support said it was defective (and that my local phone service provider (AT&T) should replace it!). Amazon replaced it no questions asked - the replacement was in my hands in two or three days - kudos to Amazon.

The new phone behaved exactly the same way as the old one - it would work fine for a couple of hours, then act up. If I tried to go off hook to make a landline call, it would just beep at me ("beep beep beep..."). If I tried to view my contacts, it would just display "UNAVAILABLE." Linksys support is still trying to figure out what's going on.

Apart from the flakiness, the phone itself is great; in letter grades, I'd give it a C. I'd have given it a higher grade or more stars if it didn't act up. As is, I can't replace my existing phones with these. The lack of additional handsets (it can support up to three or four, but they're not currently available) also detracts from the usefulness of the phone (in a pinch, the Netgear SPH150D should work though; it did for me anyway).

Linksys support gets a D-; the story about contacting AT&T to get support for their product was just crazy; and the first few of the subsequent interactions were equally crazy. The first technician suggested I upgrade the operating system (though he hadn't bothered to look to see if any upgraded were available - none were). Another suggested that the beeping was a busy signal. Still another suggested the phone needed to be registered with the base station before it would work.

Digital camera Review: Calls for virtually free locally & between the USA and Honduras
Summary: 5 Stars

We bought 2 of these - 1 for the USA, and 1 for Honduras. The quality of the phone, ease of installation, and the quality of the voice calls is excellent - even all the way to Honduras...where my wife's family lives.

The only gotcha we have found - is that SKYPE won't allow SKYPEOUT from an ISP location outside the USA to the USA.... so our family in Honduas can not call anyone in the USA with the SKYPEOUT service - even though we can call them with SKYPE IN...and that is not problem.

I am searching for a way to do a tunnel/NAT type of service in the USA to get around this rediculous rule SKYPE is using...it isn't like they incurr ANY additional cost. Once the call is setup (phone to phone database)...all the communication happens directly between the 2 phones.
