Digital camera reviews of Cisco-Linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL Router with 4-Port 10/100 SwitchDigital camera Review: Almost Too Easy! Summary: 5 Stars
What can I say -- I unpacked it, set it up, it worked, and I haven't touched it since!IMPORTANT: Be sure that you change the router's default password! Otherwise, anybody will be able to break into your home network, by using the default ADMIN password. For additional security, I also use the free ZoneAlarm software. Plugging everything in was simple. I've steadily used the product for about 3 months without a failure. I will probably upgrade to their wireless product.
Digital camera Review: Almost easy enough for a newbie to use. Summary: 5 Stars
I was a newbie purchasing 3 separate computers. I wanted access to cable internet without the security risk and without paying for three separate accounts. Networking with the Linkys was my neighbor's solution (a computer geek). I was able to plug everything in by myself, but needed help from my neighbor and a local high-school computer wizard in order to get everything running smoothly. (It seems the local cable internet company I'm using doesn't provide support for networks and wouldn't provide the necessary information needed.) They figured it out easily though, and we were up and running within an hour. According to a reliable internet source, my system is "stealth" to hackers. I haven't had any problems and am delighted with this system. When I tell people we have a network, they think it's pretty sophisticated and start using technical lingo that I don't understand. I have to tell them that I'm new at this computer stuff, and to slow down. They're amazed that a newbie is able to have a network that actually works like it's supposed to.
Digital camera Review: Almost too easy, it's scary. Summary: 5 Stars
I purchase this router to work with my DSL modem, sharing the connection with two computers and an Apple Airport basestation. The installation was trivial, I was online with an iMac and Windows box in less than 15 minutes! Even though the company and documentation only support Windows, I think the only reason they don't include setup instructions for a Mac is that the Mac was so simple to configure it was a joke. I even did the router setup from the Mac since it is used a webbased interface. Will be putting the Airport basestation on in couple of days but that should be a breeze also. Don't forget to get your CAT 5 cables when you by this (none come with it) and enjoy. This thing is pretty amazing, especially at this price. For those having to use PPPoE to connect to your DSL, it is built into the router, you just enter your info and click a button to turn it on. I have noticed a slight lose in speed with the router in, over just putting the modem on a computer, but not much and that could be a time of day issue too.

If you need a router, buy this one without a doubt. Setup was a breeze and did not need any intervention. Plug and go...
Digital camera Review: Amazing product! Summary: 5 Stars
I love this router! I've been online since the days of acoustic couplers and alligator clips, and now I have a cable modem connection in my home -- for business as well as pleasure, as I telecommute. Trying to keep my kids off my work computer has been a challenge -- they like the high-speed connection, and I don't blame them. I bought this router to see if it would solve the problem. I have a desktop PC, a laptop PC and two iMacs. Using the "quick start" directions, I set this router up and plugged everything in. Amazingly, after enabling TCP/IP on the iMacs, everything worked perfectly...first time! The laptop has a USB>ethernet connecter rather than a straight ethernet card, and even *that* machine worked well, with minimal fiddling around. I'm thrilled, the kids are thrilled... Worth every dime...! I was ready to pay someone to come out to the house and run cable.
